    si racha...suggestions

i will be going back to the u.k soon to visit my mum, and i was thinking of taking the wife and daughter down to si racha for a few days/week. i have googled a few things, but i was wondering if any of you folks live there or a familiar with the place, could give any suggestions on where to go, stay, see etc. would like to stay somewhere quiet, around the 1000-1500 mark but willing to go lower or higher. all i want to do is relax, sup a few beer's and pig out on seafood really

    any suggestions appreciated....

Sri Racha is a bit of a shit hole. Go to Bang Saen Beach instead.

A bit of one? Now that is an understatement if ever there was one.

There's a bunch of fuel / chemical plants out there, barry, if the missus is an expert.

A mall with a cinema and the usual suspects.

I have a friend with a place there - one plus is that property is relatively cheap for the area and he works nearby so it's handy.

I've eaten in a couple of seafood restaurants there, decent food with, y'know, a basic feel about the place. Sorry, not memorable enough for me to tell you the name or location.

Really it's not a place where anyone but a businessman or those on an overnight stop stays in a hotel.

    Haha, will do.

Maybe you should meet up with my mate and ponder the wonder that was 'The Specials'.

You might want to try Koh Si Chang, which is off the coast of Sri Racha. I stayed there on a sailboat a few times, it is ok.....Seafood, hire a Sam lor to take you around the island.....On the western side of the island, there are bungalow places, seafood, beaches....I remember a thatched roofed bunagalow complex by some cliffs....great for a few days.

Was there yesterday and never experienced such heavy rains in my life.

The place is empty of tourists but nice and green and the beaches look OK.

Just be careful and when you turn left off the car ferry. The roads going across the mountains North West of the island and towards the tourist areas (lonely beach etc) are the most treacherous I have ever driven on.

Yeah. Sounds like a plan as I also live in Bangsaen. Always good to make new mates out here. Cheers

About eight years ago there was a concrete sailboat for sale in the bay there. Checked it out and it had stays that looked like they were stolen from the utility company. Is it still bobbing away there? Was always the only boat in the bay.

You might want to take a side trip to Ko Mak. It's a boat ride off to the South. Small and less "busy".
