Question about prescription medications

Hey all, i am currently in Thailand until new years visiting friends and traveling. I brought vyvanse, my add prescription with me and i am now out. I have scripts from my doctor in the us for refills but the problem is that thai pharmacies don't have amphetamine based medicines. I went to the Bangkok pattaya hospital and they said to go to a thai doctor to get an alternative. The available alternatives here would be ritalin and concerta. In order to get a script for the alternative is all i have to do go to a normal doctor and ask to exchange? Also would i be able to do this at a normal thai hospital like pittaya in sriracha or would i need to go back to pattaya? Im assuming a Thai doctor would be cheaper and sriracha is much closer for me. Anyone have any experiences ?

You can get both the alternatives in many pharmacies here on Samui by just walking in and asking. I would imagine it is the same where you are. As my old dad used to say " if you don't ask, you don't get "

Im in laemchabang now. So i can just walk in and ask without a prescription? Also would this work at the typical thai pharmacy?

Only from dodgy pharmacies and be careful. Your prescription speed is more seriously illegal here than weed. You're probably going to have to see an expensive specialist to get a ritalin prescription in Thailand. btw I thought ritalin was amphetamine.

I don't know anything about your medication but in general, application of the laws regarding medicines (which can be quite strict) fluctuate wildly from one pharmacy to the next so whatever the law is, it's worth asking because you may well get what you're looking for but, if not, the pharmacist might be able to point you in the right direction.

Ritalin is methylphenidate. So it s legal here. Vyvanse is dexamphetamine so it isnt. The people at pattaya bangkok pharmacy told me to see a doctor to get a substitute. I was wondering if it that was that easy. Id prefer to do it legal way since thailand has whack ass drug laws.

As Zooheekock says. Just go to any pharmacy and ask for what you want. If they have it they will sell it to you. If they say you need a prescription then just go to a government hospital and pay 50 baht to see a doctor who should give you the prescription.
If the pharmacy doesnt have it then ask if they know where you can get it. All very easy to do.

Bingo, it may cost a bit more, but then you know you are legal. Hell even Contact cold medicine is illegal because it contains pseudoephedrine which can be used to make speed.

For years now I could buy Tramadol OTC from pharmacies here in Thailand. Now it's apparently a controlled substance and it has been pulled from all Rx shelves! :-(

Good. I was prescribed it about 2 years ago and I stopped taking it after 2 doses.
