and now for something completely different
Lots of unused/swamp land - saw this scheme/development where they've dug canals and raised rows of earth

and further on, what I expect it will look like in a few years
The land will still flood, but will now drain, these casuarina (think that's right) trees do ok in coastal conditions with brackish water

Thanks for for your report. It makes Chantaburi seem quite alluring.

The steaks are "Thai Steaks" not to be confused with any other type. The restaurant is clean and the service good better than the "Western" sludge in Robinsons opposite.

I agree about the water quality, too many prawn farms and their effluent.

Thanks for the pics Bangyai and also prawnograph, had also missed the thread.

I was there a couple of years ago, liked the place and also went to look at that cathedral.

Couple of pics to add if OK, stayed at the Gems Club hotel, not as nice as the Kasemsarn, room herewas 450 baht, service was ok, clean and quiet

    View from balcony

    View from riverside bar

Sorry, messed up posting, mean`t to add a little more.

I was also late to visit the cathedral, looked nice at evening time though

Balcony at Gems hotel, note it has a load of stalls/booths on the ground floor/entrance selling jewelry/gems and I think can get rather busy, was OK when I was there though

Couple more taken by the river, really nice just relaxing with a beer and some snack food

Really nice laid back place for a visit.
