    Thai Marbled Cat

    This is a real mans cat

    Scientific Name
    : Pardo felis marmorata

    General Characteristics : Marbled cat is in specie of small tiger under sub-specie of felidae. Since it has no larynx, its sound is not sonorously like tigers or leopards. Its size is a bit bigger than the domestic cat. It has markings on its body that looks like burnt marble. Thus, it is called “marbled cat”. The size of Thai marbled cat is around 45 – 53 centimeters in length. Its tail length is 47.5 – 55.0 centimeter. Its back limbs are 11.5 – 12.00 centimeters long. And its weight is 2 – 5 kilograms.

    Habitat / Food : Marbled cat lives only in Asia ranging from Himalayan Mountain Range in Nepal, Sikkim, Assam in India, Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina, Malaysia, Sumatra, to Borneo. Currently, it is hardly found as there are not many left. Its habitat is in Huai Kha Khaeng wild animals reservation area,
    Uthai Thani province
    . It eats small animals that can be caught itself such as insects, lizards, chameleons, snakes, birds, rats, squirrels, and rabbits.

    Behavior / Mating : Marbled cat can hide very well in dense forests. Thus, it is hardly seen naturally. It climbs well. But, in general, it lives on ground in dense evergreen forests near water sources. It rarely stays on high trees unlike the clouded leopards. It hunts at night. It is fiercer than any other species of wild cats. When hunting, it chases its baits on ground quietly. It does not trap on crotches unlike clouded leopards. Mating behavior is mostly observed on zoos. Its mating behavior is like that of domestic cat. Marbled cat can mate at anytime during the year. Gestation period is around 66 – 82 days. Newborn does not open its eyes. It will open the eyes when it is 12 days old. It starts walking when it is 15 days old. It weans when it is 121 days old. It can live up to 12 years.

    Current Status : As it does not like to stay near human. It resides and hides in dense forests far away from human. When it faces human, it expresses as fierce animal. Thus, it is killed. Besides, it is a tiger with a beautiful trait and hardly found. Thus, there are lots of demands for it such as from zoos and people who like feeding wild animal.

    Certainly not a Marbled Cat that is pictured. Looks like a Fishing Cat.

    Marbled Cat;

    As you can see from the picture above, the markings of this cat are very different to the OP, in the above picture you can see why it's named the Marbled Cat.
