Would You Drink In A Brit,German,Aussie etc Theme Pub

What do you lot feel about theme pubs.
Just walking around Pattaya you see boozers obviously owned by Brits,Aussies,Scandinavians etc by the small plastic flags and the adverts outside for there national dishes along with names like The Viking Bar, The Dubliner, Dogs Bollocks, Oz Bar, Taffy's Bar, Shearers.
When you are in Pattaya do you want to go into these kind of bars or do you want to forget about home and anything that reminds you.
Being a Brit im ashamed to say Crazy Dave's breakfast sets me up for the day.

At present my local is owned by a Swiss bloke and I sometimes poke my head into another bar owned by a Pom.

I'm an Aussie and don't think I have ever drank in a blatantly Aussie theme bar during my 22 years here.

No problems for me what theme the bar is as long as the drinks are proper and the clientele are not arseholes.

    My attitude as well.
To come to Pattaya in the first place you have to be a bit opened minded.
You have hardly got an adventurous spirit if you just wrap yourself in your memories off home.

I will drink in German themed bars if they've got decent German biers. The other proviso is that they haven't got the ficking scorpions blasting out. I have never, and wouldn't ever drink in French themed bars, even if everything was free, on the grounds that the owner would probably be French. Scandanavian bars that i've seen tend to be frequented by large hairy types rapidly shaking their heads to the "final countdown"--No thankyou. Brit bars?-occasionally. I prefer Thai themed, where the signs are in Thai, Thai food and Thai PRICES.

If Im in BKK or Pattaya I'll go in for food, possibly one beer then leave. Theres nothing worse than going into The Bulls Head and being surrounded by a load of people I left the UK to try and get away from. Ive never sat in one all night and just drank there, it would bore the arse off me.

Would you drink in a Brit, German, Aussie theme pub?

Usually I avoid theme pubs like the plague. What's the point of being in another country if you just want to spend time in a mock-up of a pub back home?

I prefer bars with a mixed clientele (it makes for more interesting conversation). However, if they are all one nationality it's not a problem. What I don't like is trying to recreate the same decor/atmosphere from back home, but others seem to like it as they are quite popular. (I guess it's so foreigners can see where to meet others from their homelands).

The only time you might catch me in one would be for Burns night.

^what they said....I only go if I have a craving for some food, like a burger, bangers and mash or such. Usually they can cook these up much better than any thai owned place.

I enjoy sitting at the bar with a bunch of pretty Thai female bartenders serving me double shots and only paying for one shot because I am a hansom man

Fuck all that bullshit farang banter as I get my fair share posting here!

And I really hate TV's in bars!

If a bar advertises it has 18 TV's I will stay away from the place by at least 18 miles.

Depends on the mood. If I fancy a certain type of food or company, I'll head to where I know I can get it. I never discount any type of entertainment out of hand. Viva le choice, and all that.

the actual theme business aint really what turns me on, but its what they offer.

    A certain type of beer.
    Aussie Rules
    Rugby
    Cricket
    Particular food
    Stand up comedian

    makes them worthwhile at times.

    I like Paddy/Pom/Ocker/Kraut bars.

The food is usually fairly edible and the selection of beer is usually better than Thai bars.

Have you never been to Bradman's (was Downunder Ocker Bistro) on Soi 23?

About the only sort of place I would avoid is a beer bar festooned with national flags, be they Scandi, Brit, English or whatever. The clientele tends to be too parochial- there seems no point going to a bar where they don't speak my language in the first place, and if anything even less point going to a bar where they just want to speak about the bluddy Premier League.

Apart from that, I don't really give a toss about the nationality of the owner.

Cold beer and interesting people make a fun night out.

When the the customers are all the same they usually turn asshole at some point.

Apart from Thai establishments, I only frequent German, Austrian or Swiss owned and themed bars, or French.
