I never discriminate on the basis of a bar owner's nationality, unless he's Welsh.

I used to go there and watch sport/have a beer/have a snack. However Thomas (part owner and nice guy) went for a long trip to the US about 4-months ago and it has seemed dead ever since. Does anyone know what happened there?

Marmite assumes everybody frequents the same places he does.

    Makes him feel "in".

funnily enough, not everyone flies to thailand for holidays, some of us live and work here.

thus a local pub can be quite refreshing and a decent relax.

we dont all want to tourist it up all the time.

Agreed. It's good to wind down after day's slog in a place with people you can relate to. I fly out of here for my jollies.

I've just set up an "irish" bar, it's about as Irish a s Honolulu, Hawaii.

Main thing is whatever gimmick your market your bar under it should provide

    b) Good service, good staff, good prices and quality beer and clientele (which always varies)

    c) An atmosphere to unwind and just remember that you had a good night when you leave.

So really who gives a fok what theme a bar claims to be, it's all down to whether you enjoyed your night and would you be going back

I tend to avoid anything that looks like it's non Thai, unless I am in need of conversation using lots of nice long words, a big TV screen or alternative people watching. Having said that, I really enjoy listening in on White blokes chatting up Thai chicks. Some of the stuff they come out with......

Mate, I've lived a few different places, including BKK for a number of years.

but in the end, its same same innit?

Perhaps you'd be surprised, but Jakarta has a number of Indo style places, and a number of western and themed bars also. There is even 2 scottish bars that I know of, both are completely crap but.

WTF does an Australian theme bar look like........does it have red dirt and rock floors with a bit of Spinifex and with a lot of centipedes and snakes running around....lots of biting flies, and big hairy Queensland farmers wanting to fight with you.....

I like plain simple pubs with quality beer and the Jehovas Witnesse's coming round handing out Watchtower.....or is that the Salvation Army....fok me, I forget......this is serious.......

Dealing with the public at work, having access to the same newspapers and television shows,do I really want to go to a Pub after work and listen to the same old shit, and often worse conversations from bare fisted knuckle fighters, mercenaries from Zaire,I knew the Kray twins,Jack the Ripper on and on. No,
Home with My Family is the greatest company I could ever find in the whole universe.

You like your food tasteless and burnt then?

I have been into some themed pubs in Pattaya but generally avoid them.
