    Bobcock at Wat Bowornniwetviharn Rajaworahihara

Located near Khao san road, it was the first temple I actively visited when i first visited Thailand over 23 years ago.

Built between 1824 and 1832 by Prince Mahasakdipolsep, vice king of the Third Reign.

Originally called wat mai but the name was changed to it's current name when King Rama III invited the future King rama IV who was a monk there to be the abbot.

This temple is the residence of members of the Royal Family who enter the monkhood including the current monarch. It has also been the residence of many of the Supreme Patriarchs

It has quite a Chinese feel to it with many examples of Chinese art. there also is several statues with a positively indian feel to them that I'll post later.

There are two presiding images in the Phra Ubosot namely Phra Suwannakhet and Phra Buddha Chinasi which was brought from Pitsanulok.

Just a couple of pics to start, I'm off to bed in a minute, I'll post more tomorrow.

It was about 8:00am when we got there, early morning worshippers were around and the monks were in the main ubosot chanting.

It was actually quite low light in the ubosot, but with some streams of natural light coming in through the back windows, made it quite a challenge.

By the time we got outside at around 9am, the weather was close to prefect, maybe a little too sunny, but the blue sky was amazing.

Fabulous shots, BC, all of them, but I especially like the "blue sky" shot of the exterior. Have some green if I can give some.
