    Becoming a Monk in Sattahip

Now this was my galfriends brothers son becoming a monk, yep the old big party night as tomorrow he will be shaved, although looking at him there aint a lot to be shaved, I was gonna do this as a long thread but while we were ther we got a phone call saying that one of her sisters kids had been shot dead, 20 years old and he had been shot to death, he worked for me for a year or two, 20 years old and dead upsets me a bit.

Knowing the family this will be sorted out, hopefully with extreme violence, for the Bhudha thing there was about 1,000 people, who turned up for the party.

Don't want to sidetrack your monk thread, but sorry about your family member. 20 years old is way to young to die.

I shouldn't really have started this thread yesterday as I was a bit too angry at the time, most of the family have gone down to Chantaburi to start the funeral rites, the monk became a monk at 7am this morning, obviously I missed that as I don't do 7ams, I am going to Cambodia tomorrow so will probably stop off on the way back, although I think I have been to more than enough funerals already this year, anyway back to last nights party.

Before we went my galfriend asked me for some money to stick in the old envelope, obviously having no idea of how much one sticks in the envelope I asked her how much would be appropiate, I was a bit shocked when she said 1,000baht but agreed to 500baht each, I was even more shocked when she said 1,000baht from me and that she was donating a few thousand baht, I tried reasoning with her that 1,000baht was way too much and that I could get 2 short times for that, reluctantly I handed over 2 short times worth of money

The box in the second picture is where all the envelopes full of dosh are kept, this was guarded at all times so I had no chance of getting me dosh back.

The building the party was held in was some government building, not sure why apart from the fact that most of the Satahip clan work for the government in differant sectors.

Anyway at this party I think I learnt more about Thai women than I have in the last 15 years, and I have to admit I was quite shocked, I even joined in the conversation, so there I am sitting with my galfriend on the right and some 50 odd year old Thai female who is in charge of the Health department in Sattahip, anyway they were discussing small wives and that sort of stuff, I was pretty much ignoring this as I am not into small wives, I then nearly choked to death, my galfriend told her about the times that I have taken her to bars and then had a short time with a couple of gals and about her tipping the gals, I mean yes she does tip the gals if they give me good service, but fok me, I didn't think she would tell people about that, I mean something like that you would think they would keep quiet about.

    to be continued.

Onto the food, when we got there they stuck 2 bottles of coke and 2 bottles water on the table, other people had beer on their tables, I was jealous, eventually they brought us a bottle of sangsom, I mean here we are sitting with the bosses of Sattahips health department and we get poxy Thai whiskey, I cant rememeber how many years ago I drunk that stuff last, but hell, with coke it tastes alright.

The food was slow in coming due to so many people there, does anybody know 1,000 people that they could invite to a party? damn sure I don't, this picture is of me galfriend and son stealing the chicken for the dogs, I think the chicken was steamed or boiled, I was wondering how to get a piece of it with just some chop sticks, the woman next to me obviously knew I had no idea, she just touched the leg with her chopsticks and it fell off, yep that was tender chicken

I hope not, he is only 13 or 14, yeah I aint good with ages, I had a man to man talk with him today about what he is going to do for a living when he leaves school, it seems that I will be supporting him, fok that, he has to work for a living, but I aint having him work in a 6,000baht per month job, he has no interest in the construction industry so it's time for him to decide what he wants in life, I told the galfriend that the money he earns is his money and we aint getting none of that, although the odd bottle of good scotch wouldn't be so bad.

Well it turns out he was shot 3 times in the back, I aint impressed with that as it means he was probably running away, the police think they know who done the shooting but hopefully the family will find them first, and yep I got to go there tomorrow.

Well I got back early this evening, it seems that he knew he was going to be killed, the police are trying to find out the reason he was executed, he had spent the last week or so staying at his fathers sisters house and not going out at night due to the death threats, he didn't tell any of the family why his life had been threatened though.

Back to the do at Satahip.

The food was pretty impressive, there was about 8 mains dishes but my camera had a bad picture taking of food day for some reason, or maybe it was the effect of the Thai whiskey.
