Wat Mahathat Yuwarajarangsirt Rajaworamahavihara was originally called Wat Salak and is located on Sanam Luang. During the Rattanakosin period it was the home of the supreme Patrairch. It was built during the Ayutthaya Period and renovated in 1783 by Prince Surasinghanart, younger brother of king Rama I and renamed Wat Nipphanaram.
In 1788, King Rama I rebamed it Wat Phra Sri Sanphechayadaram and then later gave it it's current name.
It housed Bangkok's first library, and King Rama IV resided here when he was a monk.
Despite being a Royal temple, it is actually quite plain. It has two similar sized ubosots, each housing a large seated buddah image.
It seems I have exceeded my file quota so i'll have to upload the others later once I have deleted some files
