Already did this but its been a couple of years and I now have some better pictures so :

If you're ever out near Bang Bua Tong kicking your heals then this temple is well worth a visit, especially as admission is free.

Wat Boromracha Kanchanapisek occupies 12 rai of land and was built to commemorate the kings reign of 50 years. The construction took about 12 years. The temple is built in Ming - Ching architectural style copied from the Forbidden City in Beijing with much of the craftmanship coming directly from China.The main Ubosot hall contains three very large Buddha statues made of brass and weighing 18 tonnes each.








If you never visit another Chinese styled temple then you should try to see this one as it is the biggest in Thailand and it used only the most expensive construction materials. The standard of workmanship is of the highest order wherever you look. There is a lift on the ground floor to enable wheelchair access to the upper levels.































































Best not to visit on a public holiday as it can get very busy. A short walk from the temple is Bang Bua Tong market which is located on the edge of a canal.

You can appreciate the difference..............The Thai's slap things together saying, "OK that will do"...........But the Chinese say, "OK, let's do this properly. Take time, and use the best materials.................You can see the result.!!!

the Thai's don't construct anything themselves that I have seen - just get women laborers from border camps to do the heavy stuff...

That is very impressive - I would love to visit and take some photos. But whereabouts is it? Is it accessible from central Bangkok (Sukhumvit)? Can you go by skytrain or what? Would my Thai wife appreciate it, or is there some sort of schism between Thai Buddhists and Chinese Buddhists?

Its in Bang Bua Tong , Nonthaburi. It would take about an hour in a taxi from Sukhumvit ( cost about 230 baht ) or you can take a 134 bus from Mor Chit which goes 95% of the way there. I'm sure your girlfriend would like it if she is a Buddhist.
