    Kanchanaburi - Raft Guest Houses

Kanchanaburi - Raft Guest Houses, now some like the "Sugar Cane Guest House 2" at 7 Soi Cambodia, Kanchanaburi, have rafts from 400 to 550 baht per night, but these are the boring ones, they are just parked up, now a good one is "Pathomporn", this one charges 800baht for a raft house boat for the night, the good thing about this is instead of arranging treks and all that rubbish and having to sort out what you need to take for the day, this one just tows the bar and restaurant to where ever you want to go along the River Kwai, and when you get bored of where you are you just get them to tow you somewhere else.

The tug boat that pulls the bar and restaurant along.

One of the waterfalls on the River Kwai.

    Someones house?

    These look quite nice.

Here we can see the bar on the right of the picture, this will easily take 20 passengers.

100 kms upstream from Kachanaburi you will find that the bridge from Thailand to Burma is progressing quite well.

This movie looks like a bar and disco being towed up the river kwai.

I stayed at one of these raft Guesthouses back in 1992, it was absolutely idyllic.

The last time I visited 2003 we had a party of Thais moored up along side of us making the biggest fcking din you an imagine.

They drive all the way from BKK to the provinces to see and experience the wonder of mother nature and then fcking ruin the experience for everyone else with tom tom drums, a guitar they can't fcking play and a constant stream of fcking drivel that passes for conversation.

    The ever ellusive Pathomporn Rafthouse

okay dirty dog, you got me to bite. Pathomporn looks amazing and I love the idea that you can head up stream without leaving your "hotel". However, I cant find anything else about this place online, and have no idea where it is or how book in advance. would you care to share some additional details about this hidden gem?

    thanks,
    Joe

Just done that dirty dog, looks great, been viewing Sams, anyone been there. Looks reallt cheap for 250 baht per night. My wife and a few friends visited three years ago and we had difficulty finding accomodation, we ended up buying a tent and just paid a site owner to pitch.
