Pak Chong - Surin and back - A leisurely 600km's

I've come to the conclusion that my Honda Wave is the hardest, baddest, meanest mother fucking vehicle on the road..

I was able to draw this conclusion after completing an arse battering 600km's to a border point in Surin from my town of Pak Chong. I stuck at a steady 80kph most of the way there but the way back saw the Wave come into her own keeping me at a 100kph for long stretches..

The road I used was route 24..from Sikiew to Buriram.. a very easy ride, very few cars on the road and the trucks are going so slowly you never have to worry about them coming up behind and blaring their horns or crashing into the back of you..the only time you see them is when your over taking..feel free to give them the finger as they'll never catch you.

Once you're past the turning for Buriram City the road gets a tad awkward as you have trucks coming slowly the other way and of course every man and his Izuzu wants to pass them, so you can imagine that they don't give a flying toss about the farang coming the other way on his badass mother fucking Wave and plough straight towards you flashing their lights..punks..Oh I did my fair share of fist shaking I can tell thee..The road continues in this fashion for about 100km's through the rest of Buriram and half of Surin until you get to a welcomed turning off in a town called Prasat.. Bomb down there for a bit and you arrive in Chong Chom, which is where you get your visa shite dealt with..in a matter of minutes..without doubt the best border crossing I've ever been to..no one there.. fantastic..

Here's a vague look at the route...going and coming back the same way..Ob vee arse lee...

Filled up the bike and left Pak Chong at around 8am..100bt..should see me into Buriram..

Quick bunny hop over this obstacle and we're off again..see..the Wave is so versatile..

Onto the Mittrapharp Road now, going towards Korat..lots of garden ornaments being sold on the side of the road..they look very pretty when you haven't got a shit camera..

So you head up that horrible road for about 40 km's or so then make a left turn which will eventually see you going right along route 24..very straight and flat..very few cars..very nice..if you've gotta get somewhere that is..if I was going for fun I definately wouldn't use this road..

50 km's or so on we reach North-Eastern Immi in Chok Chai..

Then you come to a sign which tells you to stay as you are should you wish to go to Buriram..which we do..so..on we go..

The first town I get to in Buriram is Nong Ki..very plesant little place..had a quick curb crawl down the frontage roads then got on my way again..

More of the Buriram countryside..lots and lots of Buffalo's about.statistically though, at least 50 per cent of them are sick..

Practising my on board photography..nearing Surin

And eventually we're there..fuck..I've just ridden a Honda Wave to Surin..surely that's illegal..

Surin looked parched to say the least..extremely hot and not much greenery around..I read it's the 3rd poorest province in Thailand..

Found some water to stop by, have a smoke and a bottle of water..quite beautiful..gotta be there though..

600k on a wave...One word for you "Crazy"

Keep it up, I can appreciate the thrill of doing something like that - but better you than me. A friend of mine wants to do a small tour around the place and I wouldn't think of doing it on anything less than a 400cc. One question though, you doing these trips out of necessity of a case of having a wave as your only form of transport.

    Cheers

Brilliant stuff matey, I must say I'm a great believer in the capabilities and reliabilities of the Honda Wave.

Admire you on a wave man. So much easier by train or bus to Surin surely?! A minibus from there will take you straight to the border for 60 baht!

Wow! 600km on a wave! How's yer arse?

By the way, did they try you for 600 baht same day exit tea money? Going on Saturday meself.

I'm of the opinion, not..it hurt but public transport hurts me more and you can stop of whenever to admire the scenery, take it all in, have refreshments etc..

No..from the off I said to the guy that forced his help on me (they do make things run a little smoother).."I'm paying you 100 bt and I'm not paying any money to get out"..and that's exactly what happened..

Great border point that..as I've said easiest ever. Aranyaprathet can go suck cock..

Nice thread mate and I agree with your views on the wave. An Aussie friend rode his from Pattaya to Phnom Phen and back..... no worries. I used to have the cheap drum brake version and on long trips used to change the rear sprocket for one with 2 less teath to give slightly improve the cruising speed and make it a little easier on the engine.
