A Picnic At Huay Tung Tao Resevoir/Chiang Mai

Well Sunday afternoon we had already arranged, yep we were going up the mountain to see Doi Suthep if it weren't cloudy, if it was cloudy we had something else planned, which off hand I can't remember, that shows how exciting a place can be if you got wives coming with you, and nope, they wouldn't reveal where the short time bars were for an afternoon of fun and reverlery, anyway it turned out that marmite had decided we were all going to Huay Tung Tao Resevoir for a picnic, maybe that was the second choice, I really cant remember, but I doubt it, I believe he relies on people getting pissed and not remembering what they have agreed to

There is a 20baht entrance charge regardless of the color of your skin.

Anyway we get there about 2pm probably, stroller gets a taxi and actually found us, he must have walked miles, he was supposed to ring when he got to the resevoir so we could pick him up, but he has some dodgy German phone.

So who we got there? Lily, Gow, Chang Mai Noons wife I believe, Xzyte and wife, a hung over frisco frankie and wife, marmite who was looking healthy, he only drinks to 11pm cos he still thinks he is in the UK, stroller looking exceptionally colorful, he has a foking weird dress sense, cmn couldn't make it due to his normal hangover, and several kids of the above who actually swam in the water, anyway marmers and co' had stopped off in the market and brought some proper food and some crappy old Aussie beer, although he didn't understand about twist tops and yanked the tops off with a bottle opener, anyway he brought the old chili cheese and lily who has a bit of class brought the cambert.

We ordered a few dishes then argued over who had to eat the offal, pig intestines really don't appeal to me, but I believe GOW enjoyed them, nought wrong with pig poo poo if your from the country side.

Anyway this is the place Thais goto in Chiang Mai cos they aint got a beach there, the place was pretty packed with Thais and Farangs, and the Thais were swimming and pissing in the resevoir, if the wind is up it is a really nice place, when we got there the wind weren't up and it was hot and humid, luckily that changed real quick.

A few comments on the photos, the beer that has ice in it is marmites, the knife in the background was from when he threatened to kill us if we posted the picture of him drinking beer with ice, I mean who cares if he thinks he is an Aussie?

All the seating areas were covered, although a lot of them didn't actually have seats and you had to sit on the floor, the food seemed quite expensive but I think the gals must have had a few tonnes of it.

There was a locally made chilly-cheese, not bad, actually.

I wasn't introduced to the wives, and I also resent the guys pulling their kids close to them and telling them to go play in the water as I approached the jolly crowd.

Not many people in the photos. Airbrushed or has everyone run away from Stroll.

Well you old git, I got home well after you. Marmite then SMS' me at TEN FUCKIN' THIRTY IN THE MORNIN', This was easy to ignore, (thanks for that MtD) Then he called again at about 11:30 (I might add that the 4 hours, or so, sleep was the longest stretch of sleep I'd had in three days).

I had run out of phone money thus forcing me to; wake up (Not fuckin easy mind you), shake off the chaang hangover (even tougher), shower, scrape the growth off my aging face (that wasn't fun to watch), walk a couple hunert meters to the mini mart to buy a "baat dem ngun," call DD; (yep I know he was in the same building but fuck if I knew his room number).

Went and picked up the ladies (MtD, GoW and Lily) took 'em shopping They all seemd to enjoy Rim Ping Market. Lot's of cheeses and stuff, MtD loaded up on the Aussie beer I had to tell him I needed a break from so much beer and was gonna drink water instead (Yessir That Heineken is a damn fine water-like substance) he put about a dozen bottles back on the shelf, thank god.

Folks were all over the place; waking late, shakin off the cobwebs. Some how we all managed to end up the same place, and a relaxing day was had by the water. Wanted to get out on one of the floating salas but we opted for the beach as we had few kids along for the day. Nice picnic.

Because he is a risk taker, and also cos he believed some bloody Aussie that said it was okay, I won't mention projectile vomiting in this thread....

Couple of different Coopers ales. They were out of hte stout. Not a bad beer actually. I like the Sparkling Ale, refused to drink it at first, just sounded like "ladies beer" Thailand has enough of those, like Heineken for instance.

I did like your comment FF about sticking to the water.

    The water being Hieniken.

    Coopers...not a bad drop.

I tried the Coopers Pale Ale (not as tasteless as Beer Lao, but not much better) and the Coopers Sparkling Ale (pretty poor. Leo is better).

So it seems that Aussies are crap at making beer.

    Here's another cheesy shot

The cheese is about 135 - 160 per half kilo, They usually have a mozarella, smoked mozarella "cheddar" and the Chili cheese. It is all quite fresh cheese and the cheddar is mild, too mild. OK on a burger though. Then, the chili stuff is even nicer. and he smoked Mozarella? Good on anything. I've only seen it at Rim Ping.
