    Prachuap province

Spent a couple of days driving around the province recently, and was impressed by the mixture of coastline and mountains.

The walk up to the hilltop temple in Prachuap town involved trying to not tread on dozens of monkeys along the path.

One of the main (monkey-stinking) buildings

    A stink-offender contemplating suicide

    Rather pleasant coastline views

    And looking inland

Some nice buildings near the base of the hill

Then it was off to Ao Manao beach nearby, part of a well maintained and nicely landscaped military base. It took a drive across a runway to get there!

Plenty of available parking on a weekday

Starting to get dark, with only us and the occasional mozzie around.

I recently spent a couple of weeks staying in Pranburi in the north of Prachuap province (thread to follow). Well impressed actually- nice beaches & mountains, laid back & cheap. It's certainly on my list of good places to live in Thailand

Then it was off to 300 mountain peaks national park (khao sam roi yot, เขาสามร้อยยอด)

The beginning of the park area, and some nice outcrops

We took a hike over a hill to get to Phraya Nakorn cave, but my partner decided to give up half way, so we went back to the car

We enjoyed some nice views first though.

Nice pics, Smeg. It's a nice area. I like Prachuap town (even the monkeys!) Sam Roi Yot I only ever go through on the way to & from visa runs, but I really need to spend some time there, properly.

NR, I had a look around for headrock on the way back. I found a dog rescue centre heading up a hill behind HH near the elephant hospital, but it had a different name. sorry

    ^ That's not a rescue centre - that's the Tessadban 'pound'!

No, you wouldn't have found us; we don't have a facility in Hua Hin anymore. Thanks for trying, though.

Wish I could post a few images of the caves, it was really beautiful. Prachuap is a really nice place to be.
If somebody could explain how to post images I will do so.

    Tham Phaya Nakon.

Even my 6 year old son managed to walk the distance
