Excellent photos! I have to admit that while I have passed Lop Buri many times, I have never actually toured the city. Sounds like fun. :)

Thailand has so much to offer if one is prepared to slow down and actually approach it as a tourist. The trick is to actually spend time in these towns, just walk around exploring the sights and my greatest finds have been when I perform my " aimless wanderings", so to speak.
To blow through a town is a waste as you see nothing so book into a hotel, get amongst the people but take the time to study up on the attractions and walk most of it in stages. One of my greatest pleasures is the people I meet when I'm wandering.
Thailand is a treasure trove full of magnificent ruins, sights and people if one keeps an open mind willing to accept many different things and situations, good and bad.
I've now left the monkeys to there fun, have headed off to the former palace and this is the entrance through the massive walls. It also houses the museum.

This photo is an insight into the working of Thai ADSL. You can clealry see that the Thai employ monkeys to carry the data on bits of paper along the cables:)

Lopburi is considered to be one of Thailand's oldest cities dating from the Dvaravati period ( 6th to 11th centuries ).
Archeology digs are still going on all over the city.

I spent a week in Lop Buri a few years back. After a few days, the monkeys become increasingly less cute. Nice thread, have a green.
Nice thread. I spent a few days there last year and took a look through my photos to see if I could add anything. Nope, too embarassed to put my photos alongside those. Well done.
