    The Bang Pu Nature Reserve

After my abortive property purchasing trip of yesterday, -- Linky!
a meeting was held by the three ladies who accompanied me as to where to have lunch. I wanted to buy them a bag of chips each & be done, but they were having none of it. They voted 3:1, to lunch at the Bang Pu Nature Reserve.

Travellers tip #1. This place is FREE to get into, so even teachers can afford it.

Travellers tip #2. This is a great place for a dirty weekend & I've been there on several occasions with girls from BKK. There are some nice bungalows in the grounds that can be rented out for about 800 baht a night.

Here is a slightly modified image of the three ladies in question. A shot taken at the end of the pier.

No, two are sisters & the other one is an extremely shaggable friend.

    Background Info.

Now, Bang Pu is located in Samut Prakarn Province, a mere 37km. from Bangkok. The site is some 600 rai in size & is used by the Royal Thai Army, as a rehabilitation facility for soldiers. Given that Thailand hasn't actually been at war since the Sukhothai era, one wonders just what the soldiers are recuperating from. Bang Pu also supports large numbers of wintering gulls and terns (birds).

So I drove the truck & the girls over to the reserve, a journey of about an hour.

Here is a shot of the truck just in case you haven't seen it yet. I parked it on the pier.

Here is a sign along the road that marks the entrance to the place. I imagine the war vets. are drinking lots of beer whilst they are getting themselves better.

The entrance is guarded by military looking policemen, but they don't usually give cars/ trucks much trouble.

Travellers tip #3. If you take the motor bike, make sure you have helmets otherwise they won't let you in. There is a small car lot near the entrance, quite safe, where you can leave the bike, however it's a long walk down to the pier etc.

After you pass the front gate, this is what you can expect to see.

See, I told you it was a long walk down to the pier.

After you drive down the boulevard, you come to a roundabout. The other side of the roundabout is an imposing structure, which signals the entrance to the pier. Again, this is guarded by a military looking policeman.

Some nice scenes from the pier.

Now at the end of the pier is a large square structure, which houses a ballroom & restuarant facilities.

Some nice shots of the foyer.

A green for anyone who can correctly name the bloke in the picture.

Travellers tip #4. The toilet facilities are FREE of charge, so there is no need to urinate in the grounds.

I just read your last response (see below) again. If I were to tell you, it'd just make you even more unnecessarily jealous.

Now where was I, ah yes. As you pass beyond the foyer, you come into the ballroom. Now I didn't know that soldiers recovering from the horrors of the front line liked ballroom dancing, but then I've never been in the services.

I've actually been there when there's been a prom, it's a bit like the Derby & Jooan club back home. Lots of aging Thais swishing around the room.

The nice administrator chap is giving me time to conclude this epic travellers tale, so here we go.

By now the girls were getting hungry, positively salivating at the thought of a free lunch, paid for by their aging farang sponsor.

However, some shots of the eating area (the main reason we are here). The eating area entrances are to the side of the ballroom. It is open at the sides to allow the sea breeze to blow in & provide some nice views of the sea & the birds.

    The bar.

We had a table next to the sea. Very nice indeed!

Here is a shot of the important part of any menu. I think it must have been written by a farang English teacher, cos of the spelling mistakes.

And the not so important part of the menu. As you can see it's very reasonable priced. I guess the soldiers here don't have too much money.

I don't have a pic. of everthing eaten & drank, but here is the main bit. You can even see some hands, that's two of the girls. The bill came to a little under 2500 with drinks, which wasn't bad.

After lunch some of us walked round the pier, it was hot but we needed a fag.

The pier is quite nice in the early evening, not so sunny, less hot & a nice sea breeze.

I mentioned earlier that there are some nice bungalows in the grounds of this place for rent. Well here is one. I actually stayed in this one two times, so if the thought of me having sex in their is a little off-putting, you might NOT want to ask for A2, should you choose to stay there. It wasn't that pink color when I stayed last, perhaps it's been assigned a pooves bungalow now! Nice to know the minorities are being catered for.

There is Thai tv, air con & a cold shower for about 800 a night.

That's it for this thread then. Nothing exciting happened on the way home, although I was ever hopeful for a three-way truck sex orgy.

    Nice comments welcome.
