There is supposedly a kind of myth about Kwan Phayao that says there is a Wat underneath the lake , not an Atlantis, but just something that hundreds of years ago was covered by water.
I should know more but I'm like your typical Londoner who has never visited the Tower, Palace or Tusauds when they have lived there for yonks.

It is a great place for Song Khran FF.

Thanks for the great pictorial and dialogue.

The artist Chalermchai linky is responsible for the famous White Temple in C Rai province. They also reference this underwater Wat there.

I am proud I could even get the whole thing in the frame. The camera has a 38 - 380mm zoom and a 5x digital zoom meta information on the picture reads 2,157mm 5 x 380 = 1900, so what ever it was taking the pic was a lucky happenstance when hand holding even at 1000th of a second.

The next night the moon was full, with the tripod and timed shutter release I was able to get a clear(er) shot. Even then, it was a bear getting the thing framed. I am really just getting used to the controls on the camera after a year and now thinking of a new one

Exactly, most of the time it was background Thai traditional music, but then these ugly things came on with a tripling of volume.
Anything would be more enjoyable than the 'spontaneous' dancing and hand clapping at MK lately.

By the way FF, great thread, again.

I used to live near the lake and once suggested that it would be ideal to go out in a sailing dingy or windsurfer, (nice if one could acquire one here! and there was some wind!) The missus said that the lake is shallow and very underai (dangerous ) as there is a weed under the water that will get hold of you and drag you under - lorks - a nasty way for Lannaman to go!!!
Ever seen anyone swimmer in it?

    Nice story & pics Frankie.
I was in CRai a while back...great place. Lovely Thai restaurants on the Kong (I think) River...mountains.....waterfalls etc.
I thought you'd like a friendly comment after your:

cool photos, thanks. I reside in C.Rai and it's interesting to see what others click on to. A good eat place is Tascas - a few doors down on the left on the street which T's off (towards Wiang Come hotel) from the portal of the Night Bazaar.

i did an almost identical trip last year.

found the foreign eateries in Chiang Rai to be very expensive compared with Chiang Mai.

    loved Phayao though.
