    Tweechol Gardens Chiangmai

Today, I went with the family to the Taweechon Gardens located just 11 kilometres North of the City.
I have to be honest and say I had never heard of this place in spite of it being only a 10 minute ride from my house.

It is an absolutely beautiful place to while away the afternoon.

Entry is a flat 60 baht for Thai or foreigners.

lots of ornate hedgings made into animal shapes.

    some dolphins

There's a lovely lake in the middle that you can pedallo around for 40 baht a boat.
You can actually see a lot of the park from the lake, including some of the animals at the small zoo.

We spent well over an hour on these things and it was a lovely way to see the area, the lake is much bigger than it looks at first glance and takes you on a meandering loop through the gardens.

My mum and her bloke enjoying the ride, though he struggled a bit.
they aren't really designed for people over 6 foot 6.

After the boat ride we went for a swim in the pristine and empty pool.

100 baht for adults, 50 baht for kids.

had it all to ourselves for a couple of hours.

    Beautiful isn't it.

    No chlorine in there either.

some sort of salt cleaning system.
you could open your eyes under water with no sting at all.

on the main Doi Saket road out of the city.

left hand side after a petrol station around 3 kilometres short of Doi Saket town.
I'll be going there on a regular basis from now on.

It's a manageable walk around the place but if you fancy, you can hire a bicycle at 20 baht or take a bus around, they leave every 40 minutes and stop at the various features, which includes the zoo and the museum.
    .

there is also a golf cart option for the extraordinarily lazy.

an ostrich at the zoo area.

they also have dear, camels, emus and a variety of birdies.

I bought my first ever ostrich egg for 200 baht (expensive, but huge and I fancy trying one.)

The salt water pool has a similar content of salt as does a tear from your eye, so it don't sting

There is a restaurant and lots of other stuff that I didn't take pictures of because my camera ran out of battery because I accidentally didn't turn it off when we were in the pool.

    To sum up.
A really enjoyable afternoon for all the family for the cost of next to nothing.

I'll be headed there again next week.

Another wonderfull garden to be explored. A good selection of plants, trees and water, with some shaped stuff. That little waterfall thingy was lovelly! I came to Chang Mai, just the once, for Songkran. Would love to see it again without the water, and see all the other good stuff. This goes on to the itinary. Maybe we could make it for March '08. Don't hold your breath though.
