There was no online version what I checked a few weeks ago. You don't have to apply by yourself but the original documents do have to be in attendance.

Not worth the risk of losing original documents.

The things I do for my daughter.

I collated some more paperwork to prove her address in Thailand. I mean, why does this really matter? She's a kid FFS... it's not as though she'd be out living on the street.

Anyway, I found a translated copy of our house book but as it was certified in 2017 I figured it would be best to also get some more recent proof. I also found a letter from her medical insurance company with her name and address and I downloaded a health certificate from that Thai health app with a green logo. This detailed her C19 jabs but also had her name and address. For belt and braces I asked her school to put together a quick letter. I did all of this in less than a day, such is my skill in renewing passports.

And then yesterday was time to follow the time honoured tradition to get down to Bangkok.

Starboard Out, of course... from the photo you can see that the sun was blazing through the window but once underway on Highway 2 and heading SW to Bangkok the stbd side of the bus is on the north side and sheltered from the glare. The night before I had downloaded three episodes of Death in Paradise on my phone in preparation for the journey.

I usually travel NakhonChai 24 (or something like that) but this time a pretty girl at the ticketing booth persuaded me to try Cherdchai Korat. This bus was configured 1 and 2 either side of the aisle and you could argue that a port side solo seat out of Korat, despite the glare from the sun, outweighs getting stuck in a starboard side window seat when a fat b@stard joins the bus late and sits in the aisle seat next to you. Anyway, you live and learn.

But... everyone gets a free chicken burger with Cherdchai Korat, and you can't argue with that. Although I would have preferred a cheese burger.

That small rip in one of my favourite shirts was caused by Lola, our new puppy, when I bent down to say goodbye to her. She's going through a playful stage and she jumped up and grabbed my shirt and ripped it with her teeth.

So that was yesterday and this is today.

Back to Trendy to deposit the additional paperwork. I didn't have to make a new appointment to add paperwork to an existing application. You can just turn up at will for this so long as you have the printed PDF from the passport office.

They are still saying 11 weeks to get the passport, which takes us up to late June. We hope to travel early July which leaves me in a bit of a dilemma on whether to book the flights before I have the daughter's renewed passport actually in my hand? I mean, it takes them 11 weeks just to renew a passport and yet they are going on strike? Why not sack them and just train up a new batch? They couldn't be any slower.

And 20 minutes later, all done. This is the thing of course... it takes me two and a half days of travel and stuff just to do 20 minutes of business in Bangkok. This is the problem with living somewhere like Korat and means a lot of wasted time.

With the walk from the hotel all of this was hungry work but as luck would have it I spotted this food vendor outside of Trendy...

Two chicken liver kebabs and a bag of kao niao for 30 Baht. You can't argue with that!

I found a quiet corner on Sukhumvit Road to eat it.

These kebabs usually include 2 or 3 chicken livers topped by a chicken heart which is there, I guess, to stop the softer livers falling off. It makes you wonder what happens to all the spare chicken hearts?

And that's it. Now I have the entire day and evening to kill before catching a bus back up the hill to Korat tomorrow morning.

Like I say, the things I do for my daughter.

I haven't been following the slovenly tales of pervertery too closely. Due to not being a pervert.

But if timing with the UK passport could be tight, why couldn't she use her Aussie or even Thai passport to enter the UK if the UK one is late arriving?

Just sort out the visas at the Embassies in Bkk, if not used, no biggie. Aussies are still allowed to enter the UK after a good thorough criminal history and IQ test, right.

Could even be another couple of Nana runs, I mean Aussie and British embassy runs to carry you through the next 11 weeks of celiba.... of married bliss.

You must think I'm some kind of newbie at this.

Her Aussie passport also needs renewing before June and I haven't got the time now because I go offshore next week. Her Thai passport also needs renewing before June and that needs doing before I could start the tortuous process of organising a visa for her to visit the UK. My wife can organise the passport renewal at Central Plaza in Korat but then I would have to start the visa process when I return from Norway.

I think I'll have to just keep my fingers crossed that the UK Passport people get their act together.

Yeah, but I didn't want to start drinking at 10am. Besides, I had a breakfast with the daughter a few years ago at the Red Lion and I seem to remember we were pretty unimpressed.

I'll take that bet... 9am and on the bus with an empty seat beside me. So that nips that smutty little rumour in the bud.

A slight inperfection to an otherwise flawless passport renewal trip... all the post side seats were taken so I have a starboard 'sunny' seat on the bus back to Korat. Starboard Out, Starboard Home, or SOSH.

I was a bit late to Morchit and with only 10 minutes to departure I didn't even have time to get a 7-Eleven hot toastie... had to get a revolting cheese and ham sandwich smothered in some kind of mayonnaise.

While speaking to the daughter on the phone yesterday I had a bit of an epiphany and realised that I've had enough of these passport trips. My next passport due for renewal is valid to 2026, so apart from picking up the daughter's new passport sometime in the next 11 weeks (hopefully) this will be it for me and Bangkok.

Just means you were up all night with the ladyboy and rushed straight to the bus station instead of sleeping.

But you can sleep on the bus now, so that's a relief.

    ^^^ FFS

And I've told you before, I've got more taste than to wear a flat cap.

FFS... actually, the flat cap was fine.

Haven't you got a bus to drive?

Or maybe another home cleaning appliance to photograph?
