^ Yeah, I was also told 11 weeks which could be a problem if this bladdy strike causes further delays.

I've heard elsewhere that they've been turning around renewals in 3 weeks lately and I put in my application 3 weeks ago today. So fingers crossed it arrives next week.

    I'll keep you posted.

For UK folks BBC news 10m ago said 5 week strikes at UK passport Office so get in asap if you need to travel.
If near expiry an emergency one way is possible for a fee.

Passport Office workers are to strike for five weeks in an escalation of a dispute over jobs, pay and conditions. More than 1,000 members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union working in Passport Offices in England, Scotland and Wales will take part in the action from April 3 to May 5.1 hour ago

    ^ I've seen it now!

And it looks like I may well be polishing off my sandals again next week.

They say that pride comes before a fall, and a month after I was congratulating myself on a near-perfect passport renewal trip it has all come crashing down. I had this by email yesterday, almost exactly four weeks to the day since I put in the application.

It does make you wonder how I've previously had a renewed passport in my hand two weeks after the application (via Hong Kong) yet now it takes four weeks just to tell me that more paperwork is required?

But anyway, after running around for the morning I have secured said paperwork and applied for another appointment at Trendy next week.

But this is the thing... if they can't see me next week I am in trouble because I'll be leaving for an offshore trip early the following week, maybe at the weekend since there's a lot of travelling involved. Even if they can see me, this delay will put my application into the UK Passport Offices strike window... which is I believe for 5 weeks starting beginning of April. I need this passport by the beginning of July and I'm just starting to get a little bit concerned.

So... fingers crossed. Maybe I'll get the appointment next week, have a couple of days in Bangkok to boot and maybe even get meself a decent lunch. But this just goes to show how easily the wheels can fall off even the most meticulously planned passport renewal application.

When I did mine at Trendy, a few years back, they seemed to check every document against a checklist and every page of every document. Isn't it their job to make sure all the requirements have been met?

^ To be fair the girl did mention something about this... I had a translated birth certificate for the daughter with our address on (where we have lived for in excess of her entire life). She said the UK may want something a bit more recent, but I said, 'nah, it'll be alright'. I wish she'd been a bit tougher on me now.

For y next appointment I'll have a letter from the school, a health insurance document and her Thai Covid Health certificate, all with her residential address. Maybe I'll overload them with documents this time. I've also found a translation of the house book but if possible I'd like to keep hold of that.

^ I'm pretty sure that you can't do the online route for a child's passport renewal. I even have to take this new paperwork down to Trendy for them to stamp before sending it on. It would be a lot easier just to scan and send by email but that option wasn't offered.

They looked at my contract for a while for the proof of address. Was getting nervous but they accepted it. All the bills etc are in Thai and I do hate to trouble work with a letter.

My visa is up for renewal in 6 weeks. REALLY hope I get it on time.
I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

^ Good luck. It doesn't matter if the VSF people accept it at Trendy, it's what happens at the UK Passport Office that matters... and it took them a month to knock me back.

But I'm sure you'll be fine.

Possibly would be, but then he’d have no excuse to stroll the streets of Bangkok in his Jesus creepers.

Looks quite sandy there, nothing like Brighton.

Didn't you have a fungal arse crack ailment around that time?

Yeah well, I've never been to Brighton... not my kind of place.

If you know what I mean.

And salt water works wonders for a myriad of skin complaints.
