Didn't that only customer you passed looking like Thai Forest Gump, holding his head and mumbling under his breath send out any red flags for you?

Not a bit of it. I'm a busy man and don't really have time for enjoyment any more.

I don't want to blow my own trumpet but this is proving to be the perfect passport renewal trip... probably one of the best ever.

And I'm giving all these tips for free!

Quite understandable if its anything like your toes.

Right some serious Passport questions for you...
What's the going rate nowadays to get someone else to blow it?
Did you send your daughter's Thai passport off as well?
On the online application I did, they wanted it sent with the old passport
I guess I could have said she didn't have any other foreign passports. I had to pay an extra fiver for return signed delivery of it too. £58.50 altogether.

The one thing I've learned about these dual passport renewals is its a lot cheaper and easier to renew in the Country they are issued.

I am waiting for the dirty bath water pic again. Where he soaks those hot worn out dogs. After a day walking around in BKK in Jesus slippers with no socks they must be stinking and on fire.

I think I need to arrange a couple of passports in the next few months. Not sure I can convince my missus that it needs a few days a month in BKK for a few months.

It was a rhetorical question, stumpy.

Dil has forgotten more on the topic than you will ever know.

Particularly when the topic involved half a dozen Cambodian grannies with knickers the size of tablecloths and a bag of carrots.

That I aside, I knew what Dil meant. I just wanted to toss in the "close their eyes"

Hope Mendy got all the passports sorted, cleaned out the cob webs so to speak and hopped back on the bus back home. His fish miss him.

A useful update for those with UK passports.

My last renewal, as per the UK passport office website, was to send the completed application direct to UK via email.

I received an return email requesting my current passport. I replied that Thailand requires foreigners to carry their passport whilst in Thailand.

My new passport duly arrived directly from the UK.

Now it seems two visits to required to Bangkok.

    Bugger.

I will never understand this preoccupation with my footwear.

David Bowie wore sandals in the summer, FFS.

HW, I use an agent for visa renewals but paying around 8000 Baht (taking the true cost away) for a passport renewal seems steep. In fact my Welsh mate very nearly missed his holiday (and therefore flights, accommodation etc) last year when applying for his son's passport through an agent went wrong and they forgot to put in the paperwork. It took around 4 months in the end to get the passport. But to be fair I think that was an exception and agents are usually very good.

The first question is a very good one. I didn't mention or send her Thai or Aussie passports with the application. The question was a bit ambiguous and I took it to mean sending any active UK passports with the application. I'm pretty sure I did the same last time. At Trendy during the interview it was pretty obvious that my daughter is a dual national but they didn't mention anything about her Thai passport. They didn't even want to see her Thai ID. I guess I'll find out about this in due course and will maybe have to update my answer!

If you need it by June I wouldn't hang about Armstrong. They are currently quoting 11 weeks to turn the application around (although I have heard that it's now quicker) and that takes you through to June, just about. It may take a week or so to get an appointment at Trendy as well.

Anyway, I had a nice long weekend break with the passport renewal trip. Saturday was a day of drinking with an old mate/colleague who I have worked on and off with for over 30 years. He recently retired and I hadn't seen him for over a year so we had a lot of catching up to do.

First up, my first cooked breakfast for several weeks. It was so good I was a bit slow in taking the picture.

    Followed by some draught Leo...

The time just slipped away and before we knew it, his (grown up) children had come to join us for dinner. We kept the bills separate (sadly) and by the time I left the bar I was in no state to entertain, whether they kept their eyes open or closed.

Still, it was good to have the temptation taken away.

Sunday morning ended a nice trip. Port Home, of course. I was on the bus by 8am. It doesn't matter how much I drink or how late I get to bed, I still wake up between 4 and 5am. Pisses me off, to be honest.

And a final double cheese and ham with spinach 7-Eleven toasted sandwich!

The wife will have to renew my daughter's Thai passport at Central Plaza in Korat at some point. I have no problem with her doing this, as she has no problem with me having to ho to Bangkok for the UK passport renewals. Of course since we organised all of the daughter's passports at the same time, they expire simultaneously.

This got me thinking yesterday... and yes, her Aussie passport also expires this June. I had completely forgotten.

Bugger... this means a trip down to the Australian Embassy in Bangkok. I can check the toilets for cameras while I'm there!

Good advice, Armstrong. There are regular stories in the UK press about people not getting their passports renewed as quickly as expected.

Emailed them today and within 10minutes they'd given me an appointment for next week.

Gives me a week to get all the stuff together.

    9 + 2 = 11

However I did have a bottle of Leo nightcap back in the hotel, so 12 it was!

Armstrong, I just heard on the radio that UK passport staff are going on strike from April onward and they expect significant delays in passport application turnaround times. I hope you got your renewal application in OK. I'm hoping to get the daughter's back before April but we shall see.

Yeah put it in a couple of weeks ago. Hoping it's shorter than the 11 weeks they said.
