That was my third go. The second was a little bit rude

Take no notice, I'm normally grumpy at this time of day before my siesta and maybe a tad envious of you swanning around Bangers on your lonesome, looking like a million dollars.

I hope some fit lithe hot little brown fuck machine nicks your watch.

Assuming you weren't being sarcastic, that must be the nicest thing anyone has said to me in several years.

Thanks mate, you've put a smile on my face tonight! I'm sure you look pretty good as well.

I'll stick the watch in the safe.

Certainly not. Why, I even tried to send a return repo with a reply to your kind Summer cruising offer, but the software says I've gotta share the love.

A long weekend in Bangkok and a pocket full of baht!

I can recommend Wat Arun and the Grand Palace if you're at a loose end

Or if you're missing seeing white teanagers getting pissed up on a Friday night there's always the Kho San Road .

I reckon Mendy needs some suggestions and guidance in these matters

My nieces preferred 7/11 to the Thai restaurant in place we were staying. I found their preference amazing...but they're basically Brits.

How long, from your trip to the Bangkok agency to deliver the application, to returning to the Bangkok agency to pick up the new passport?

I presume you keep the original passport, and have to return to the agency in Bangkok, , until the new one is picked up?

Does your daughter need to accompany you?

    Bangkok, Oriental setting
And the city don't know that the city is getting
The creme de la creme of the chess world in a
Show with everything but Yul Brynner
Time flies doesn't seem a minute
Since the Tirolean spa had the chess boys in it
All change don't you know that when you
Play at this level there's no ordinary venue
It's Iceland or the Philippines or Hastings or
    or this place!
One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky then the god's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me
    One town's very like another
When your head's down over your pieces, brother
    It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity
To be looking at the board, not looking at the city
Whaddya mean? Ya seen one crowded, polluted, stinking town
    Tea, girls, warm, sweet
Some are set up in the Somerset Maugham suite
    Get Thai'd! You're talking to a tourist
Whose every move's among the purest
I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine
One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me
    Siam's gonna be the witness
To the ultimate test of cerebral fitness
This grips me more than would a
Muddy old river or reclining Buddha
And thank God I'm only watching the game controlling it
I don't see you guys rating
The kind of mate I'm contemplating
I'd let you watch, I would invite you
But the queens we use would not excite you
So you better go back to your bars, your temples, your massage
    parlours
One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a god in every golden cloister
A little flesh, a little history
I can feel an angel sliding up to me
One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me

Finally, a serious passport renewal question.

They are currently quoting around 11 weeks to turn around the UK passport renewal applications. It was taking all of this last year (my Welsh mate nearly missed his summer trip nack to the UK waiting for his son's passport) but I have heard it's quicker now. My last passport renewal just before Covid took about 6 weeks). Back in the day when UK passport renewal applications were processed in Hong Kong I had one turned around in 2 weeks.

I get to keep the old passport but had to submit a photocopy of every page. The daughter doesn't have to accompany me... I can pick up the new passport taking her old one and the receipt. Then they will cut off the corner of the old one.

VSF will hold the new passport for 30 days, so as long as it doesn't arrive right at the start of an offshore work trip I'll pick it up on my way back to Korat from work sometime.

Or of course I could make a trip specially from Korat just to pick up the new passport.

My daughters new black Brit passport just arrived. Only took a week in all.

You'll be back smashing the granny out of those ladyblokes before your next 80 baht haircut

He doesn’t want to hear that. He wants it to take six months, with weekly visits for additional paperwork required.
