    Hotel near Suvarnabhumi

Hi all, Does anyone a recommendation for a nice hotel close to BKK airport. I have an early flight so would like to be close and also would like to try something other than the Novotel.

    thanks

During the rainy season I'd go to the hotel at the airport.

Pretty sure there's a Holiday Inn but I could be imagining that.

Also, you have to consider the traffic...if you're trying to get to the airport at around rush hour, it's best to stay at the airport.

Last month stayed at Crystal Suites, Lat Krabang. Fine for a short stay, set back off the main Rd, and the Paseo shopping mall about 300m for meals, a Robinson's mall a few minutes further.
Stayed on friends recommendation, I'll go there again as ideal for us coming up from Chanthaburi.
They have a minivan service -150 baht flat fee per room occupants to/from the airport.
Plane was late 40min, driver had waited.

    Travel times:
We hit 6pm traffic - 1 hr 10 minutes to LK.
Next morning went back in twelve minutes.

A colleague of mine rates silver gold garden in Lat Krabang.

Just a short hop from the airport.

lat Krabang was underwater this week, so depends when you are coming. the place Mendip quarantied (think its Silver Palms) is walking distance from Airport link at Hua Mak, but would depend on what time you arrive etc.
also Nasa suites at ram, if you want DJ Pat vibes, but not sure anyone would really recommend it
    we won it at wemberlee
we on it in gay paree...

    ^ As said above.

Lat Krabang has floods at the moment starting from the King Kaew Road Road intersection to a bit past the Paseo.

To gaurantee no trafic or floods, I would suggest King Kaew Road.

    Depending on budget you have...

Suvarnabhumi Ville - Has pool, rooftoop bar and big restaurant out on the main road.

Siam Mandarina Hotel - Not much going on in the area apart from snooker hall next door and a Tesco Lotus opposite that will kill you if you try to cross the road.

Amaranth - 5 star hotel that is really 3.5 stars. Nothing to do outside there, so you will have to get drunk in the lobby bar for entertainment.

If you fancy a few beers, bands and whatnot, then head up to Lat Krabang Soi 11/13 (this area is a few KM from the Pasio and near the entrance to the Airport bike lane).

Canalis and Suvarnabhumi Suite hotel are near each other. There are a few bars and restaurants on your doorstep here.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Thanks for all the suggestions. My flight is at 7 so will be heading out super early.

The last time I had a flight home this early was pre Suvarnabhumi. Don Mueang was a pretty depressing place at 5:30 am headed home to the frigid northeast.

I often stat at The Great Residence, about a 10 minute trip to the airport and they provide shuttles buses. It's not so salubrious but friendly and because it's cheap I usually pay for a big room. I don't really know the geography of Lat Krabang but this place was semi-flooded when I stayed for a night a month ago when we returned from the UK and I reckon with all this rain it may be pretty much cut off by now.

Early flight or late arrival we often stayed at the Silver Gold as some of their rates include van service back and forth. They built a new hotel (Silver Gold Foyer) in the back but I would imagine that they would have some flood damage as it was right on the klong - I would call and check.

^^ The Great Residence is right next to a khlong, so would probably flood pretty quickly.

^ Guessing The Silver Gold Foyer would have the same problem.

As mentioed, a quick phone call might help.

Have stayed at the Thong Ta Resort in Lat Krabang many times. Clean rooms, inexpensive, airport shuttle available at all hours. Thong Ta Resort And Spa - Guest Reservations

There's tons of traffic at that time....its when the prozzies and the Indians that's been seeing to the travelers all head home.

Airport hotel for an early flight. You'd have to be pretty hard core to want to combine that with a night of boozing and night entertainment.

Sadly I'm not so hardcore. I'll probably spend the evening in my room dreading the trip home.

^ You're doing Bangkok all wrong.

    Do it the Hallelujah way.

Check out at Midday the day before your flight. Save the money from your airport hotel and spend it on a nosebag and some horse tranquiliser off some dubious African down Soi 13, then drag your suitcase around Pat Pong, Nana, Cockatoo in Cowboy and end your sesh getting a tuk tuk to the airport from Soi 22 at 5am stopping off at some wonky pharmacy to pick up a few Xanax for the flight back and to drop off the 3 ladyblokes he's been pulling off all night.

Trust me, you'll sleep like a baby on that 23 hour flight

^It does sound a bit autobiographic doesn't it.

Hotel is booked I just hope a boat isn't needed to get inside

And it was sounding like a good night out until you insisted on Boys Town.
