Thread: Day with colleagues

So I had some colleagues over from the California. Half the visit was business discussions, the other half was taking them around. I have a lot of pics but only a few without us in them and NO WAY I am letting Dodgy Dillinger(nutin but luv for ya man ) hack them up and spread them all over having sex with sheep and black fat girls that LuLu already trashed.... One of them is the Pres of the company...



Anyway we took the company van and blew over to Samut Songkhram to the floating market.



We started the trek in a Tuk Tuk from a parking location and we especially loved the gas tank between us and the driver while he smoked....

Being we are all gear heads this long boat had a pretty slick motor set up[ and when it left it tossed some long ass rooster tails from prop.


Later my wife and I with my niece took them to the new "Icon Siam" mall on the waterfront.

I did not take pics inside the mall. It was packed with people. We browsed the mall.

A quick comment, We wanted to all sit and have dinner. However the way they have this all set up, you go and get food at various places and then go try and find a place to sit. F that. Terrible concept. There are only about 2 or 3 restaurants that have sit down dining and the lines were long. People do not want to go get their food then wander around trying to find a table. That part was rather annoying being that they spent billions of baht on this Icon place.

From a western perspective I see what you mean.

From the Thai perspective...it's cheap eats that drive these places and make them look busy...thereby increasing the desire to spend.

I bet this area was on the top floor too to maximise the distance 'shoppers' have to walk, thereby making the place look busy and giving the feeling that everyone's spending money. So this set up gives Thais the feeling that they can grab a quick (or not so quick) snack, and see and be seen at a place that is buzzing. This crowd just isn't going to sit in one dedicated restaurant and spend 300 baht ++ on a meal.

This place might take longer to get up and running at full capacity, but in the longer run it will get punters walking through the doors. That's clearly the idea, anyway.

Actually the eats are on main floor with a huge emphasis on Japanese cuisine. The prices are not cheap. This place is clearly focused on high end folks
