    Pattaya Park

For days I have been looking out my window at this bloody great tower that is the main feature of Pattaya Park. Pattaya Park is a resort style park with a water world type thing with slides and pools and stuff. The park also has a roller coaster, trampolenes, a bouncy castle and loads of other fun things to do. They wouldnt let me on the bouncy castle coz I had high heels on, so I took my shoes off and they still wouldnt let me saying that I was too big and risked hurting the other kids. Grrr.

Anyway, my gambit for the day was to overcome my fear of heights and go up to the top of the tower and take some pics.

When I arrived I looked up at this 170 metre tall tower and nearly fainted at the thought of being that high up but I wasnt going to be daunted.
Anyway, there are two ways to go up this bloody great tower. One is to go up in the gondola thingie which costs 100 baht. The nong who I asked could tell I was dead nervous coz I was stuttering which was odd coz I was speaking Thai and I hadnt realized that I could do that.
So the nong suggests that I can go up in the elevator inside the actual building. That is for me I thought as I thanked him and headed to the base of the tower, my legs already starting to wobble.

To go up 170 metres for a bloke who can get giddy just standing too close to the edge of a large kerb was gonna take some courage but I had made up my mind and it was now or never.
It cost 200 baht to go up in the elevator but I didnt care coz it was far safer, way more civilized and included a free cup of tea and a free activity.
It wasnt untill I got to the top that I realized what the free activity was.

Now was the moment of truth and I took a deep breath as I pushed the button marked ironically hah hah. That was it. There was no turning back now.

The first thing you see as you leave the elevalator is the sign outlining what the free activity is. *Gulp*

Now in case you cant read it, the sign basically outlines that the free activity is that you can jump off the bloody tower.

When I came too there were all these Thais standing over me laughing and one bloke was waving a bottle of salts under my nose. I felt quite sick.
In fact, just the memory of it all has me feeling quite queezy as I write this now. So if you dont mind I think I will have a little lye down and post the pics I took a little bit later.

There ain't a hope in hell I'd go up a 170m tower in a gondola in Thailand...

Actually, not that sure I'd go up that 54 floor elevator either...

It was about this time last year when one of their elevators cables snapped, luckily it was near enough to the ground floor so they were only injured as opposed to being dead, I personally wouldn't go there due to their dual pricing policy.

Here are a couple of pictures anyway.

how much is it for a Thai?

never been to Pattaya park in my 5 recent visits - next time I'll check it out - although a Thai rollercoaster sounds a little dubious..

Just went to Kanchanaburi the other day - 100B on the train for 'foreigners' however many stops - met a French guy at the station who got kicked off the train for refusing to pay 100B for one stop (11B for locals) - fair play to him really , 100B all the way is ok but for 10km it's a piss take.

Anyway, lets get the jumping off bit outa the way. This pic shows a fool just about to leap off this fokking great tower.

    And...........there she goes.

I was already too close to the edge to get any closer so I just pointed the camera in the general direction of where I thought she might be while I grimaced and looked the other way. This was the result and if you look closely you can just see her legs dangling into view at the top of the pic.

OMG, I am giddy just looking at the pics.

And now some nice pics of the wonderful views from atop this horrible tower.

First off, here is a nice shot of the dogs house. If you look really closely you can see the dog waving.

Next up is view of Jomtiem Beach, looking south.

And now, looking north over Pattaya.

Here is a nice shot of the water park.

Using zoomorology I was able to snap this jet ski which had to be over a kilometre away.

Naturally, at 170 metres up, the wind was quite high and I bet this lady didnt even think about that when she was getting dressed this morning.

By this stage I had enough and headed for the elevator and couldnt get down to terra firma quick enough. When I reached the ground I said a little prayer and God must have had a right old laugh coz the first thing I saw when I emerged from the building was a very pleasant sight indeed.

This lady was standing in the cafe getting some nosh. I had only gone in there for a nice settling cup of tea but decided to stay for lunch as well.

Can anyone guess what nationality that ladies butt is?

If you cant see it that is because the dog makes me resize all my pics now. All these pics are clickable for full size view in the gallery.

For a country supposedly on the verge of bankruptcy it is staggering how many Russians - with money - have managed to establish themselves in London.

I was on a tube train in North London a few weeks ago where the guard was making train announcments in English and Russian (well I assume it was Russian).
    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

Go to the water park a great day in the water and sun. Its our favorite place in the Pattaya area. Giant float pool and lots of slides all for the cost of 100b for adults and 50 for children.
    Its really a fun day.

One of the few things i miss, living up here in chiangMai is a water park.
i used to use the one on top of central Bangna at least weekly.

Having said that, my village has just completed the building of the village pool, 10 months behind schedule. I think I'll go and take some pictures of it soon, then I can show off by posting them.
