    Train to Ayutthaya

Went to Ayutthaya for the weekend and we did the whole rent a tuk tuk for the day and visit temples & ruins thing.

Went there on the train, going there we went second class air con which was 240 each.. on the way back only 3rd class was available and it was 15 baht each! #LivingTheDream

Stayed in nice chalet style loom next to a big lily pond. It was about 23 quid a night

Here are some pics taken with Samsung s8 phone and my shiny new 120baht tripod

    Great trip report there Punts

Good to see the rumors of your early demise were unfounded.

Even was OK with the food shots.

    What's with the goats?

We went to a Elephant place thinking it was a ethical place where they treat them nice... but it wasn't .. they were trying to sell rides and crap like that

so we ignored the elephants and got involved with the goats

Thanks for the pix, Europe was in ruins after WW2 there were still many bombsites when I was a child. The Europeans rebuilt, I guess the indolence, karma and now a generation used to selling ruins to gapers means they'll be left as monuments to a civilization that failed to stop the Burmese or despite surrounded by water to develop reliable plumbing

Yes I agree. I have the S7 and wife the S8 and smartphones take outstanding pictures and beat the hell out of carrying a camera around. I have a Cannon Rebel that I seldom use unless I am going to use the telephoto lens.

    Ayutthaya is not exactly cheap....

All the ruins have foreigner entrance fees ranging from 50 - 200 baht.
Those river prawns were 500 a pop
Tuktuks are 200 an hour for rental and single journeys are also steep.

You can get even better smartphone results by using a small tripod because you can play with the 'pro' settings like exposure, shutter, iso etc and the phone needs to be perfectly still.

^^your babe has nice sweet eyes, Punty.

Thanks for the pics, brings back nice memories of Ayutthaya. Like you, I took the train to get there, 3rd class. Then took minivan back to Bkk.

Next, you'll be doing cultural tours of neighboring countries. When's the next long weekend/ holiday? 555. Cheers!
