    Csffan's Trip To The North

Crackerjack and his lovely wife invited us up to visit them, so the wife and I flew up to Chiang Rai yesterday where we were met by Mrs. CJ and her friend Ratty and whisked to Casa de CJ.

On the way we stopped for pictures....I'm posting from my tablet , I'll put more up when we get back home.

Having never been up north to visit before, the area is amazing. We are in a valley right next to the Mekong where there's tons of farming, and though it's raining today, is nice and cool.

Mrs. CJ is an amazing gardener with tons of stuff growing, from papaya to pomelo to avocados, is perfect.

The pics CJ has posted over the years of his house simply do not do it justice, is probably one of the most unique homes I've ever seen.

    More to come!

I'll have you know that my fudge brownies are made with only the finest, naturally sourced ingredients, plucked lovingly from various organically grown plants n stuff.

And Tesco special fudge brownie mix which I believe to be made by Exon.

nice one lads - enjoy the heat and the scenery, when combined - i find - make the lager taste that little bit more sweet and fizzy.

    northeast, though?

    you're in the north, man!

Funny how that reminds me of Kamloops, BC on the Thompson River...

Or where the Thompson meets the Fraser at Lytton...

CSSFan, you are now on the hit list of the Lanna People's Liberation Front. Change the thread title pronto or there will be consequences. Isaan is Northeast, Chiang Rai is North. More pics please.

    Blimey Guv.

A tour of the North is great. Start off with a stop in Sukhothai, up around CM for a few days, then loop around Nan and Phrae and come down the central corridor. Beautiful. Take yer bike and leave the missus at home.

You are in the North. Mengrais Kingdom. Lanna. In the Meuang of the Khon Meuang. North East is Isaan always. This is a sensitive political and cultural issue. You are in Lanna Thai, the North, not Thai Isan, the Northeast. Anyway, have a great time and don't forget you can always tell us pedants to fook off

City slicker that doesn't get out much, nor really keeps Thai circles or understands the country that he's lived in for quite some time [kinda odd]

According to my definition of the N/E, I am in paradise and I live 100km west of Chiang Rai. The petty ones can be so pedantic. It is the FEELING that matters. With a total population of 20k (& I do not own a camera), life is bliss. I have been rising at 6.30am (winter), the monks are chanting and the people are courteous & friendly. Try to find that in BKK. No Starbucks. Our coffee is even better.
    No speed-traps!
Yet we have all I ask for in the way of amenities.
The neighbors have fresh eggs at zero or near zero price. Fruit & vegetables are basically priced.
Tractors are seen going up the street.
As I sit at the front, school students and people going to work greet me.
