Back to hunting beaches, found this throw back to the 60's.

Great work Terry! For me Samui is a place I still miss to be honest, plenty to gripe about if you hang around the tourist traps or don't bother to investigate the decent places to stay. I'd love to go back to reflect on the good times I had between 2003 - 2007. you've proved its not completely gone to the dogs! .

I stopped in a hut like this back in 87. It was fantastic then, blowing a Joint under the stars living directly on the beach, happy days indeed.
But fuk that, I now want Internet, hot water, Air-Con and a Telli.

These next few pictures show that not all high rolling Thais succeed in the tourist business. In fact a drive around Samui will show that many just make the Pay roll. It's real slow down there at the moment. I recon this place went tits up in the GFC. Must of been well over 50 rooms nearly finished when things rolled over.

Massive beach front development down the shitter. The beach front land is worth a quadrillion though.

Lovely view innit. The beach dogs have a lovely place to keep out of the rain. That plunge pool would of been nice if finished. All of the buildings had their own plunge pools. Huge money spent here.

That's My first memory of accomodation but a smaller shack in Samui, at Moonhut in 2001

Great thread Terry, Chewang 1980. 30 baht a night and called themselves Bongalows as you got one with the room.

So we spent a very nice three days doing the tourist and un-tourist things on Samui.

Samui is still a great spot with plenty of nice beaches to be had but ya gota get of ya fat arse and get around.

Don't go in High season, it would be shit. Too many people and way to many cars for that ring road.

Also if ya want to have a look around grab a car and do it properly and in comfort.

I was a very good farang and left nothing except the prints of my bumble bee shoes.

Next stop Chumphon and their great beach.
