I'm struggling to find what makes Geoff's trip so exciting that he feels the need to share it with us. He obviously thinks that by empathising his accent it makes him sound funnier...........it doesn't
In fact he sounds like one of these pains in the arse you meet in lots of bars who love the sound of their own bullshit

    as he's a Geordie

no he isnt. this one is worse. he's a manc. undoubtedly britains least appealing region thanks to the grating accent, in your face attitude and repulsively abhorrent demeanor.

he is just another low rent piece of shite, and these days it is getting harder and harder to avoid this mouthy demographic in thailand.

mostly estranged from their long suffering families back home, these ageing shaven headed bullying jack the lads pour out of economy class on just about every manchester to bangkok flight these days heading to pattaya for a few weeks of nauseating camaraderie with all the other booze breathed pot bellied inarticulate lumpen dross as they search out the cheapest beer and the ugliest whores the land of piles has to offer.

oh not a Geordie then, but another northern loud mouthed embarrassment that looks like he stepped off the pages of Viz mag swaggering about like a piss poor version of Sharky without the steroid abuse. Fancy having to sit next to the twat on a flight back home.

Travelling with Brits on any service is a bugger these days since most of them in the oikish, whore - mongering for two weeks, class seem to think it is compulsory to drink as much as possible in the time available and the volume control on their boorish, vowel flattening delivery is inevitably increased thereby.

I have found KLM to Amsterdam to be a good alternative but EK these days is to be avoided like the plague unless business class is an option. For some reason the Dutch are much more civilised and know how to disport themselves in public better than our dross.

klm are not bad, and amsterdam airport is a joy compared to the chaos and company found in the raghead airport hubs.

our last few trips have been with BA, who are greatly improved these days. manchester to the superb heathrow T5, connecting with the heathrow T5 to bkk flight with no stops. they do a "premium economy" class which is preferable to economy and nowhere near as prohibitively expensive as business class, which to my mind is very poor value anyway.

I went BA last time but t5 must have been designed by a masochist. No check in now print yer own ticket, get through security shake down thanks to Muslim terrorists, then the ride begins. Down the escalator to the shops, then down another one to the train. Get off train go up 2 flights of escalators to departure lounges and after down another escalator to get into the plane.

No check in now print yer own ticket,
by checking in on their website at your own convenience and in the comfort of your own home you are able to print out your boarding pass, (its not a ticket by the way, tickets are for buses to birmingham and buri ram) thereby avoiding the long check in queues. you merely have to drop off your bags, a 2 minute procedure.

security is the same everywhere, although it is carried out in a far more thorough, polite and professional manner than almost anywhere else i have been.

seasoned travellers will know the routine ( coats off, pockets emptied, watch and belt off etc.) and will prepared long before they reach the pat down and the machine, thereby avoiding getting into a silly fluster and holding up those behind them.

.... and if you don't like the escalators, you could always use the stairs!

Gosh, you actually went up and down some escalators!?

Must be dreadful. I much prefer the mile long travelator which has broken down and I can have the opportunity to get some exercise in before that long flight.

I beg to differ on your first point, he's from Warrington.

Point two - The accents of Leeds and Manchester sound very similar to me, although Northern England is notorious as a region where adjacent suburbs speak ‘different languages.’ The difference I’ve noticed the most between the two cities is found in what we call GOAT words: ‘go,’ ‘flow,’ ‘road,’ etc. In Leeds, there seems a tendency for this to be a monophthong, while in Manchester, this seems more typically a diphthong.

(To review, monophthongs are single, ‘pure’ vowel sounds, so GOAT might be something like goht, while diphthongs are combinations of two vowel sounds, so GOAT might sounds like goh-oot, guh–oot, or geh-oot depending on your accent.)

    I salute Jeff,

He is a happy guy doing positive things in Pattaya and enjoying his life to the fullest.

    Good on him.

So much better than reading the usual shite that flows from that place.

He looks like a happy guy doing ordinary things.

Not sure why he's a legend... Maybe he saved a bunch of children from a burning orphanage or stormed the beaches on D-Day?

Seems to be enjoying himself anyway.

    He'd be a hero then

The adjective "Legend" Is a recent Northern English slang terminology that is yet to make it's way into the Concise English Oxford Dictionary for a "Jack the lad" type character.

I didn't get the legend status either, until I read CCC's explanation LOL. I'd like to see David Attenborough do a Pattaya documentary "...and here we find Thailandus Bar-girlus in her native habitat, imitating the mating call to attract her prey, Manchestus Geriatricus. Occasionally, Manchestus Geriatricus will get confused, and respond to similar mating calls issued by Thailandus Katoey-us..."
