    Bike ride to Prapadaeng

So years of living here I have wanted to go to Prapadaeng but never bothered thinking it was a hassle.

Information on how to get there was vague at best and truthfully i can be a lazy bugger.

recently I decided to go for a bike ride every morning afteer i drop my kid off at school. so with ekamai as my start point.

    off i went.

Google maps indicated that i had to take kasemrat off rama IV, follow kasemrat to the expressway entrance at the end.

To the right is a small market and sub soi that leads to wat klong toey.

at the end of the sub soi is a pier

From the pier you hop onto a small boat for 20 baht

that bastard threw up a sizable wake.

once on the green lung there are plenty of small elevated concrete walkways to explore

more once i have fed the 6 year old who has been waiting for me to start doing something so she could beg for attention.

The reason that mossy concrete (klong) path is less travelled is because of all the new roads on Prapadaeng, that have sprung up in the last 5-odd years.

I will be running there (again) on Monday.

ok. more was promised so her more is.

this is the view back to bangkok from the pier on the other side

and a view of the port through the bike (had to prove i was there)

ok, now that i have exercised my inner art fag, this is the type of thing that can appear around any corner when you ride the walkways that dissect the place.

some funky old houses out this way. this would quite a fun project

this one, not so much. (the sky turned really overcast and not so nice for pics so some of these like this shot are hdr 3 exposure composites)

my nanny told me that this looked like a ghost house out of a lakorn, so i went overboard on the hdr processing

popped out of the jungle to find this dilapidated temple

so i took a few shots

was pleased to find it because i have grown tired of shiny new temples

    the temple from the side

at this point i decided to actually concentrate on exercise, so i stopped stopping and started riding.

i plan to go back next week, so i will take more then

Nice report. Always wanted to do the same when I lived In Suk but never got around to it. There's a big park over there somewhere too. Guess I could always throw the bike in the car and drive down there but the oldrer I get the lazier.

Good effort ,, but IMO spoilt by weird looking photos ,, sorry I would just have preferred the natural pics .

thanks fyi the only hdr photos are marked as hdr, the other ones are pretty much "natural" if such a term can be applied to photography.

yeah the park is nice and only about a click from the pier. the whole place is just a nice change of pace and a good way to kill a couple of hours once a week and get out of bangkok and be home for lunch.

its one of those things thst feels like an excursion until you actually do it.

Nice pics. Where is the old temple? I was over there twice in the spring -- once on a bike -- but didn't come across it.

Yes, they are the same. Prapadaeng is the amphur in which Bang Krachao is located. I think of the whole green area of elevated walkways as Bang Krachao.

I used to ride there about every second or third week. Never got around to taking many pics though, which I regret now. Thanks for sharing.

to be honest it was the second time i had been, and i just jumped on every path i came across, by the time i found it i was totally lost.

i tried to find it again last time i was there, but failed. It is behind one of the schools and there was evidence of a small evening food market nearby if that has any meaning.

i have started mapping my rides using gps, so if i find it again i will be able to mark it.

^ I guess it will be one of those mysteries that will keep me coming back. The Search for the Lost Temple of Bang Krachao. It's easy to lose your way in there. It happened to me last time out. Took a few turns in from the river around Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok (across from Bang Na) and had no clue where to go next. Fortunately a local pointed the way back to the river.

I saw some land for sale there for only 15,000 bt. It seemed insanely cheap although it was probably related to the lack of direct road access.

If you go down Sumphawut Rd. you can take a ferry across. I cycle there quite often.

Some great pics and looks like an interesting ride. I quite liked the photos of the old temple and "ghost house"... I agree, it does look like some of the haunted houses from Thai ghost movies. I bet you could buy that property for a real steal.

    literally about 10-15 minutes.

    Eakamai to Sukhumvit 40
    Sukhumvit 40 onto rama iv
    rama 4 onto kasemerat
kasemrat to Wat Klong Toey and the pier

    see map

Ekamai BTS to Wat klong Toey Pier in Bangkok, Thailand | MapMyRide

probably take the same amount of time in a taxi
