the bike shop on soi one was the cannondale shop. that moved to soi 26 near k village years ago.
On sarasin near lumpini ar pro bike and culture cyclisme (or something like that)
to my knowledge none rent bikes. In fact none will allow you to demo a bike either.
For rentals, approach tour companies, here is one Rent a bike in Bangkok from SpiceRoads
Thanks. Ive been looking for that.Originally Posted by t.s

no, sadly it is very hard to find an interesting rig in these parts, singapore seems to offer choices though

Yep, not bad but the best I've found over the years (MTB & Road) is Flying Ball in HK., next after that is the Clarence St Cyclery in Sydney
I was in Pro cycle last week and it's obviously sticking to what it can sell to the local market - if your into mid price rides and decking them out with (way overpriced) Bontragger add-ons it's the place.
Bit disappointing to see that hey still have an L Armstrong poster up - when I asked where they sell the drugs I got a bit of a dark look.
Excellent thread must bring the bike next time I'm up there and try it!!
enjoyed the insight to a good place to ride an explore in BKK. Green sent. Would like doing that sometime.
i haven't been back for a while, i have been doing rgular rides in suan rot fai, lumpinini and benjakiti to the tune of about 100k per week. the weather has just been to unpredictable to get caught on prapadeng.
re bike shops, i agree with you, the two on sarasin are somewhat disappointing, though my experience with pro bike's mechanics has been good. I would certainly use them for something major i could not handle at home.
to cannasia thailands credit, prices are on par with the singapore branch. Cannondale apparently controls their pricing quite strictly world wide.
ok so with lumpini overrun by protesters a change was needed so this morning i dropped the bin lid off at school and had a quick breakfast at ekkamai as usual and then headed for prapadeang once again. its been about 2 weeks since my last ride there.
i did the usual assortment of trails, but this time managed to string together a pretty nice run with very little time on the road, i was quite content riding until i saw this
when i emerged from the jungle i seemed to have happened upon an area that had been overtaken by the wealthy. there were a number of mansions along the riverfront, with some new ones going in.
and the usual temple fare, i happened upon this one which bordered on a nice little jungle trail.
it was a pretty standard new temple but out behind it was pretty cool in a mirror ball kind of way
I could see the cranes of klong toey so i asked a local how to get to the riverfront and he told me "bai supa-hiway leo sai" so i rode to a road with an actual dividing line and turned left and ended up here
the riverfront is quite dirty here but not without its charm
i had a coke in a bag on the pier across from the port. hard to believe what is going on just across the river when life on the green side is so chilled.
i then concentrated on riding until i was horribly lost.
when i got home and checked the gps, i discovered that i had still barely scratched the surface, though i did do a fair share of backtracking
and here is the route

Hmmm, this area is quite close to me, over my side of the river (if I understand it correctly, which I'm not sure that I do...). It seems to be close to an area that I always thought of as a horrible concrete jungle (of the same name...).
Looks interesting and worth a visit.
Cycling should be banned!!!
