Random pictures from Tak and beyond

I thought I would start a new thread with some more pictures from my trips to Ban
    Tak and around.

Too bad they couldn't get a bit more on this truck.

Here is a cool house on the river.

    street view at dusk.

I took this one on the big bridge in Ban Tak.

Thia one is down river. Its fun to go off here in a tube.

whats left from the old bridge after the flood.

    racing home from temple.

on the road to Mae Sot in the morning fog

I like this building they cut back for the road.

Nice bit of teak I think they wanted big money for I cant remember now.

    nice balance in the market.

    No mans land.

Poor kid makes me feel very lucky when I see these places.

A mandatory stop at the market with the family.

Fresh meat not to many flies.

We stopped at the big tree park on the way back. Its a hell of a climb down but well worth it this tree was just amazing.

The way down just keeps going.

    nice square tree hole.

The trees around it are normal sized large trees.

My dream house until the floods come.

This was the water mark at grandmothers house.

Last one for now sunrise. Where heading back to civilization.

Here are a few more from around Bangkok during Chinese new year.

These first two I took from our room in the grand president on Suk.11. I love how you can open the window on any floor.

This was on a construction site just down from the hotel.

Here are some from the river. I love the old houses on the river doesn't look much different from pictures I have seen from the 70's-80's.

sorry for the crooked picture hard to do from a boat.

This is a festive one. Popular i'm sure.

People seem quite content on the river.

I would love to have one of these old places.

This one looks great but I would hate to maintain that gloss finish. And that walls not to nice.

    all ready for new year.

Not sure what this place was but thought it looked great.

    Not old but....

This old dog was at the station where we got off the boat. Looks comfy.

That's it for now I'll put some more on later. Glad you enjoyed the first round.

Great pics thanks. I've done a few visa runs to Mae Sot and always make a weekend of it.
What's the grand president hotel like? I'm always looking for a decent hotel in BKK.

The Grand President is pretty nice for a mid range hotel. Very convenient for the sky train and plenty to do around the hotel. Just don't book a room in tower three its a pain in the but to cross the street. They have a good breakfast also.

Honestly, it looks like a bit of a dump. But I would like to visit the waterfalls at Umphung.

I had to install screens on the Vinyl windows of my Thai GF's House. Mak mak Mossies. Didn't seem to bother the Thai's. They are very quick with their hands. Always found the village alarm clocks (dogs & cockerels) an unwelcome intrusion on my nightly slumbers. Boringly quiet in my Canuck neighbourhood.
