Unfortunately the road next the the grass airfield is gravel so racing with a sportbike like mine is out. It would be no match anyway as an airplane accelerates quite slow compared to a motorcycle. A Honda Click would be more appropriate, at least for the first 100m. lol.

There may still be some car drag races I hear.

So put a Click on the runway and the plane on the gravel to even things out a bit!

Your dad must have been rich, I was a Rambler Rebel baby, came from New Jersey to California in a 67 Rebel. It was kind of sad when AMC folded. The first time I ever drove a car, at about age 10 was driving that station wagon around a huge church parking lot.
Iirc correctly my dad was driving a 72 Biscayne (Chevy) with black vinyl seats and roll up windows. It did have A/C, PS and power brakes though. Hailing from Nebraska we took a road trip in 1976 passing through NY, Washington DC and ending up in Philadelphia on the 4th. Quite the celebration, got to see President Ford and everything. He was born in Nebraska btw :-). Awesome fireworks that night. I also remember security was tight even back then, police and secret service everywhere along with metal detectors etc.
