    Sunsets in Thailand

Now I love dusk hour in Thailand. So I aim to make this my record of sunsets in Thailand, so please feel free to add you own pics of sunsets here.

As my first load of photos are from SURIN (spelt correct guys?) beach in Phuket, here's where it lands. But it will not be restricted to beach photos...

.. before we start however, I have to show you my photo of the umberalla, as they'll not likely get a mention elsehwere

Ah, William. I've got hundreds of photos of sunsets. Mostly in Phuket, of course, and mostly at Kata beach, some at Nai Harn. The best sunset I saw was when there were loads of small clouds, all different shades of red on a brilliant blue sky and then, just as the sun went down, a fishing boat drifted in front of the sun. Perfect picture, but no camera. D@mn.

Of course, not every day is perfect for sunsets:

Hey, guys, your timing couldn't have been better. My husband is working on an oil painting with a sunset and trying to get the water reflections right -- great examples!

Here's a view from my kitchen, they were burning off the old rice stubble at the time.

Not really a sunset. I just took this at 17:15, but the ice high in the stratothingy is making nice coloured patterns. Not as clear as I woudl like as I had to take the shot through the, rather dirty, smoked glass windows to block out the sun.

    Lord, deliver us from e-mail.

    Nice pics!

Sunsets in Thailand are brief and if there aren't any clouds, it's basically a big red ball sinking into an ever-present soup of air pollution.

If there are high-level cirrus with lots of big cumulonimbus along the horizon all the better but I prefer the longer sunsets in the northern hemisphere in the summer; the sun doesn't go down as fast and there's less air pollution!

THe sunsets are very brief true but in Hua Hin this is very little air pollution. I can see the Milky Way most nights unless it is cloudy or there is much of a moon.

Buy a decent telescope, then! I tried to buy a good scope when I lived in Bangkok but I couldn't find a store that sold anything usable; Singapore or KL would be a better bet.
