    Koh Samui, Samui Reef View

I just got back from a ten day trip down to Samui.
We stayed at The Samui Reef Veiw which is the resort owned by our very own gusG.

The place is immaculate and the rooms are comfortable and done to farang standards so you don't get all the niggly little errors of the normal thai designed rooms.

And of course we need a picture of the bog for DD

    His website is here
Welcome to Samui Reef View Resort

It is located 20km south of Chaweang Beach and 4km south of Lamai, so you can head that way for the busy areas or head south for the quiter spots.

    This is Crystal beach .

Some nice piccies there Thetyim. One thing though is a bit puzzling. I think the resort is near Hinta Hin Yai, south of Lamai beach, some 20 odd km from Chaweang (the further the better) .

Thank You Thetyim, a true gentleman. I hope you and the Mrs had a good return trip, back home.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Thetyim again.

That is correct, but he is still right, it is south of Chewang (the further the better) .

    Looks really nice.

If someone ever decides to lower their flight prices to 'reasonable' I might be tempted.

Fly to Surat Thani, and then take ferry over. Much cheaper, and a pleasant trip to boot.

Thanks for sharing the photos, looks great and the location sounds spot on being over 20k away from Chaweng beach.

Nice resort GusG, one question, do you get many Yermans staying there?

^+^^ I've actually got two staying here at the moment.
Both for 6 weeks or so. Good blokes the pair of 'em, some of their friends come over in the afternoon for a swim, and a feed in the restaurant, couple of beers, good guys for sure.

No problem with the towels though, I read 'em the riot act when they moved in.

I have nothing against Yermans, just commenting because the website offers Yerman language

    I like friendly drinking Yermans

    Bloody wind-up merchant!

I might ride down and go and visit NR on the way, but I've got a few weeks block of work due sometime soon, so I'll need to plan a bit.

That would be on account of my PC Doctor being German, and the fact that I do have a few other regular German guests, that recommend my resort to their friends.

Never had a problem, being an Aussie I have lived all my life with people of all nationalities. getting along together. And it is one of the things, I love about running a resort here.

I even had my first Israeli's here this week, and if I was to believe everything I read, I should not have let them stay,
but hey, they were lovely people as well.

The first beach in the photo's of Crystal bay/Silver beach is more the correct name one thinks.. could be wrong..

Either way I lived about 3kms from that beach for 4yrs in the country, I know the resort GusG...very nice.

At crystal bay I helped in a 'Coral reef regeneration project' bloody amazing check out www.bio-rock.net I think or www.biorock.co.theither way it was really good to try and save what's left of Samui's very few rare reefs... sorry but the place is all-but void of coral or sea life... a very sad fact that I and others tried to change...

I have left samui now for nearly 17mths.
I hope that it has got a little bit better in it's respect for the environment that created all that wealth in the first place???

Please let me know Gusg or anyone else if attitudes have changed? or are there still numerous problems..like the rubbish dump on the old airport road..or if loads of trees are still being cut off the hills around Lamai for banana/coconut plantations???? Cause they really hold the mountain together and stop floods don't they????

Greed drove me from the island and a corrupt insurance agent..that withheld payment for 2yrs..cause I was a farang!!!!

I do still miss some of the quieter beaches and times. Lamai still had that sense of all you needed and all you didn't. You could still get away from most of it when you needed to just nip out on the bike and take some side roads close to Lamai... God miss just riding about....

Ah jealousy smells foul in here.....

Bio-rock structure at the top left of the photo just above the piece of rock that juts out...

I thought Crystal Bay was up north of Lamai near The Cliff restaurant.
