    koh samet for new year

well my new year was spent doing nothing but eat sleep and beach on samet, bloody lovely, heres a few piccies from the trip

first off get yourself to ekamai, buy a ticket for ban phe, 550 baht i think it was for 2, that includes the bus, ferry over and ferry back, not bad, and go wait here

they leave on the hour, standard thai bus, free water and a taro bun

roads werent too busy, but a fair few familys hacking past all loaded up

waiting for the ferry to fill, and away we go for the 30 mins trip across

    ketamine-only fools and horses

well that was easy, arrived about 1 ish, then decided to catch a taxi to the resort, i wanted to walk but the smily girl wouldnt dream of it

bumpy as you like as the roads are still mud once you get out of the main town part thing bit, bit of a traffic jam through there to the national park post

you will get parted with 200 bahts here, while the missus pays 40.............

love was in the air for these 2 for sure, taxi nearly run em over

like i said before, the roads were just dirt tracks, so bumpy, they got us there in one piece though, ahhh time to check in and get on the beach, more pics to come

all laid out nice on the beach and surrounding terraces

580 bahts per person, steak loads of thai food, fruits, everything, oh and free sangria....

bit blurry this one of the buffet tables, but they were kept well stocked up right the way through the evening, i had a couple of plateloads and was stuffed

threw a few more sangria down, then a tiger, then off for a stroll up the beach to ploy pub to watch the fireworks

lots of this going on all up the beach

Yep you get the Thai price with your Thai license or work permit.

Last time we went we got the speed boat across and got him to drop us on the beach past the national park check point, but they've got cheeky little national park guards hiding in the bushes and they accost just when you think you've got away with it. But we just spoke Thai to them and they let us off with the Thai price, no need for the identification.

lots of partys going on for new year all up the beach, people flying lanterns by the shedload

fireworks were pretty good but quite difficult for my little canon ixus 100s to get anything much cop

plenty of punters, loads of gay thai lads, fair few farangs getting 2010 out the way aswell

that was new years done then, the next 3 days were spent having a moose around, and laying on the beach, found some good food and some cracking spots to sit and have a beer.....coming soon

sent the missus out early with towels to secure an umbrella with a nice view,so after getting stuck into the buffet brekkie, 2 eggs on toast, bacon, sausage, coffee, juice and fruit, it was time to hit the beach

not much talent about, but the missus was amused when she heard some thai boys saying 'watch out !! here come a big red mammoth!!'

as it was nearing beer o'clock we decided to take a walk down the beach into the town to grab a bite to eat, saw this along the way

not keen on the colours, but an ideal little machine for flying around on samet

stopped at this place on the main road, was kind of busy, for some stramed rice and stuff
    tasty

had a wander up the road and came across this little gem of a place to watch the world go by

frozen beer glass, and beer so cold it had flecks of ice when poured, lovely....want one?
