In August 2007 Bali Hai Plaza held a press conference announcing the opening of Bali Hai Plaza, after a 130,000,000 investment they announced there would be more than 100 brand name shops and many entertainment orientated businesses at Bali Hai plaza by the end of the year.
An early artists impression of what Bali Hai Plaza would look like.
Next we have a picture of Bali Hai Plaza september 2009, cant see any signs from brand name stores and the only thing it seems famous for is Mixx Disco, 2 different types of discos that are connected, although one seems famous for it's German DJ's, as I don't go to disco's and the markets of Pattaya sell fine brand name clothing at bargain prices I have never been into the place.
Bali Hai is at the far end of Walking Street, Walking Street is famous for two things, 101 illegal buildings that have been threatened with being demolished for the last 20 years, but so far haven't been and as long as the money gets to the right hands each year seems unlikely to ever happen, and of course "SEX," or more specifcally GoGo Bars, anyway I went down there a couple of days ago after the aftermath of the tail end of some storm in the hope of seeing the sunken boats, seems I was a day late as I couldn't find any
Some pictures of Bali Hai, nice clock tower, suprisingly the time is correct, or maybe I just got lucky and arrived at the time it is stuck on
This grass area, it's not big enough to call it a park, in the early morning they have an aerobics class here, much earlier than I got there anyway.
The Royal Cliff overlooks, probably with disdain, the low end scum of Pattaya, be interesting to see what they list their address as as I can't imagine they would lower themselves to have Pattaya in it, these are probably the most expensive condos in the Pattaya area.
These boats you can rent by the day, you can charter them to take you to Koh Larn, or go fishing or just charter them for a private booze cruise with yourself and half a dozen girls of your choice, they used to be 1,700baht perday when I used to charter them, probably around 2,500baht perday now.
That nice looking boat is one of the ones that goes to Koh Larn every day, obviously not one of the 20baht each way ferries, think it costs 150baht but you travel in air con comfort and it takes you directly to the beach as opposed to the ferries to Na Ban which is just a port on Koh Larn.
Pattaya's very own Hollywood sign, looks a bit wonky to me but that doesn't really matter I suppose.
More rental boats.
The Oriental Star on their website claim to be the first and only "floating seafood restaurant at Pattaya Bay in Thailand", but they can seat 500 guests so it's a pretty big boat and I assume they have 500 life jackets.
If we are to believe Oriental Stars website then only myself and my camera can see this picture of the Dolphin Seafood Restaurant, their boat is moored up about 100 meters from the Oriental Star, I wonder if the Oriental Star is Thai owned.....
All in all they seem to have made quite a nice area of Bali Hai, just a shame that the nice area only extends to the back entrance of Walking Street, the pier still has live cabling exposed for the lights but nobody has died this year from pissing on it, down on the corner is a nice light house, up on the hills are some nice jogging trails and view points, still the only reason to really come here is to catch a boat to Koh Larn though.
