There aren't any go-go bars in Bangsaen. But there are lots of bars and restaurant/bars all over but particularly on the road down to the beach and on Beach Road itself. At night lots of Thai-style night-clubs, pubs and coffee shops/meeting places. As it is a university town there are always lots of young people out and about at night. Lots of parties in Bangsaen!
At weekends laods of Bangkok people (and on long week-ends it seems the whole of Bangkok) descend on Bangsaen to party, so in some of the clubs and bars it is standing room only and in the 'theques it is breathing room only. We don't go out on weekends.

I think the place catches a bad current in the gulf that washes all the shit from the Chao Phraya river down the beach. Eeuuucck!
It must keep the locals employed collecting plastic bags, used condoms and the like.

I don’t eat it (the squid), so I don’t know. But every week (my weekly trek to the beach) for about 5 months I was asked to bring home 4 (cooked) squid for the two Thai women I live with (girlfriend and her younger sister). They enjoyed it. Maybe because they haven’t had better?

For really great seafood, follow Beach Road around the spit and up a little bit north to the pier with a bunch of fishing boats put in there. Incredible, fresh seafood at the restaurant just off the pier. I think the restaurant's name is Rim Talae, but I won't swear to that.
