Cha Am, Hua Hin, Kuiburi July 2020 Covid Casualties

Deserted beaches – made a tourist beach area run along the west coast of the Bay of Thailand 20-23 July.
Pre-Covid this was/were thriving tropical beach tourist areas, packed with visitors spending their vacation funds. Many, many, many dollars/euros/yen/pounds/yuan deposited into the pockets of Thai host vendors. A good time was had by all.

Today, Post Covid - Empty. Cha Am, Hua Hin, Kuiburi. No tourists, No vendors, No smiles. NO MONEY. Closed shops, Closed hotels, Closed restaurants. Relative ghost towns.

^ Which hotel did you stay at there? It looks very familiar . . . my father-in-law's preferred one, I think

Yea, deserted, kinda nice to not have shoulder to shoulder hawkers but also sad, really.

Very bleak, you’ve got to feel sorry for the people who depend upon tourists for their livelihood.

We are going to have learn to live with COVID 19 until a vaccine is available. In many countries living without it is no longer an option.

Yea, reasonably good. Traveled Phetchaburi, Cha Am, Hua Hin, Kuiburi. Visited a few tourist sites. Reference a few threads I posted in the Southern Thailand Forum. So many businesses shut down. Businesses that will not open again. The economic damage of Covid in a country that has been minimally impacted by the medical damage.

Actually had trouble finding open restaurants and hotels. The vendors are shell-shocked. No customers, No sales, No walking traffic, no reason to open shop.

These tourist economies are gone. And, they are not coming back. Six plus months down the Covid Pandemic the realization is starting to dawn on them.

of course some concern is warranted for the tourism industry and the people who work in it, but let's keep in mind that these photos were taken midweek in july.

not sure how many, many, many dollars/euros/yen/pounds/yuan were actually deposited into the pockets of thai host vendors in july last year.

a more telling assessment can be made during the upcoming high season.

It looks so peaceful. However, I really feel sorry to all those who had lost their businesses there due to the pandemic. I really hope they can recover soon.
