Koh Samui Including trip to Ang Thong Marine Park

I recently did a trip to Koh Samui. One of the few islands I haven't been to in the South of Thailand. I stayed on Chaweng Noi, which was very nice and not overly crowded which I feared. The waves were strong, so I didn't get to swim, but nice breeze anyway. I took a day trip to Ang Thong Marine Park and got to snorkel, hike and kayak in a full day. It was one of the best day trips I've taken. Trip from Koh Chang to outlying islands ranked high on my list.

On to some pics. The National Park is pristine really. Just karst after karst. I had seen a few karst like these in Krabi.

    Ready to go!

Sitting at the back of the speedboat. It took an hour to get to our first destination and let me tell ya, it was a very bumpy ride.

    What browser are you using?

If chrome copy the img link on the bottom and paste anywhere

If Firefox copy the direct link and paste into the yellow postcard after deleting the http in the box

Stopped here at Mae Koh Island for a steep climb to see amazing views and see an emerald lagoon.

Second last stop was a fisherman village in the middle of who knows where. We stopped to have a small buffet lunch.

Lunch. about three options, plus watermelon for dessert.

Cutie tour guide. Amazing tour guide as well. Always makes a tour when you have a good tour guide who speaks decent enough English and can explain things.

Cheers.. Wow, you live in T-land and have not been to the sea in 8 years...shock, horror, awe!
I know what you mean though, those undertows can be very bad in certain seasons.

On to our last stop, where I couldn't take my camera off the boat, but I kayaked around this huge and beautiful rock.. took the Thai tour guide along in case I flipped over and drowned.
Was the most serene place I've been too. There was a sandbar to the right of it, where we could just get out and swim.

Hope you all enjoyed as much as I enjoyed my trip back to Thailand in five years actually.
Apologize if some of you have seen these before. I will post more of Koh Samui and the beaches in the near future.

^Thanks Slap, but this isn't my best quality. I used an Iphone which has 8 megapixels. I'm impressed with the quality, but wishing I had my other camera handy for closeups. Yes, made it to Phuket quite a few times.
    ^^Will do, Wasabi!

Aw, I did think about you and that you lived there. Next time perhaps.

Sorry about the first post, I don't know what happened. I think TD changed the way you post photos, and I wasn't doing it properly. Anyway, I'll repost those pics.

    On the way!

I was looking out for James Bond, but no luck!

^I have pics mostly of just the beach. I didn't take many of the resorts. What were you looking for?

I stayed at the South end of Chaweng, so spent most days on Chaweng Noi. I did spend a few nights on Chaweng. Chaweng beach has more restaurants on the beach, and people in general. Chaweng Noi had a lot of resorts and was quieter. After 6pm, people go inside. There are no beach bars or restaurants except at the resorts.

The view of Chaweng from breakfast. Great little spot. Stayed at First Bungalow and Beach Resort.

There is a small stream that ran beside the restaurant, so we took a small bridge to get onto the Chaweng Noi side.

    View of stream from breakfast.

Place I stayed in on second floor around the great pool. A two minute walk to the Chaweng Noi and main Chaweng.

    Sweet pool

Went for an Aussie barbie for Xmas dinner... even though I was with an English bloke. lol.

Not sure how shark would taste. Thought I'd give it a miss.

Dinner was delicious. The food here included steaks, fish, and whatever else you may want. Great stocked bar as well.

    Post 21. First pic.

    Is that Grolsch?

I wasn't aware that nice beer was allowed in Thailand.

Grolsh is indeed a fine bottled lager. Even a pissed up non smoking monkey can open one of those beauties.
I fear you are dreaming slap. (wipe that dribble from your chin) never saw such a thing on the island sadly.
PS Maybe she was staying in a posh Dutch place where oiks like me are not allowed.
