    MeMock does Bangkok

    In town for 3 days.

Flat out like a lizard drinking trying to organise everything. I am here to pick up my sister in law and her husband who are coming to Australia to errrmm 'visit' when in fact they will be earning 500 baht an hour each tax free planting trees

Flew in yesterday , tiger to singapore then air asia to Bkk, all went smooth. New airport was a bit of a let down. I found a toilet, spent 30 secs and immigration and my bag was the third one off! So quick in fact that I managed to catch MtD and the beautiful GoW for a quick lunch before heading off to super rich to exchange some $$

According to xe.com the aussie dollar is worth 27 baht yet I managed to get 28.6! Go figure...not that I am complaining!

Onto Pantip to purchase software for the old man, wireless headphones for him as well, battery for my digi cam, and an ipod cover for a mate. Then it was back to my hotel - which is the main reason for this post actually.

the hotel is an absolute find. I needed a place with good wifi as in between all my jobs I have got bucket loads of work to do This was the only place with a good location that I could find on line.

Now at 600 baht a night I was expecting an absolute dive. How wrong was I. 50 metres max from chongnonsi bts. It's so close I can almost spit on it. Small little place, but very clean. The room is awesome for the price. Lots of room. Good size TV with about 3 or 4 western channels. Fridge, safe, free water, clean toilet and shower plus free wifi access at a decent speed. No limits on downloads or anything.

Sorry for the quality n- only have me phone with me.

Now the paint colour is obviously a little disturbing but there is a reason for it.

After I booked online I was alittle worried about what I had set myself up fore so I did a little further research only to find out that this is a 'gay friendly' hotel! Oh well i thought, could be interesting - what it has meant though is very attentive staff and one of the cleanest hotels around! They even have a framed photo of CMN in the lobby which was a little strange!

It is called Omyim and here is the link Omyim

News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

I forget to mention that the room service food is excellant (except for the larb) and is available 24hrs. Full maid service daily.

Last night i popped into a new pub on silom called the duke of wellington The Duke Of Wellington Pub

Very impressive. Heaps of room. Comfy. 85 - 95 baht pints of tiger/heiniken/other local stuff for happy hour 5-9pm plus free wifi if you are so inclined. I didnt order any food but the people around me looked pretty happy with what they were eating.

Early to bed and early to rise I got in some good work time before taking the skytrain....

....from chongnonsi to taksin and then the boat....

I have always loved taken the boat upstream, nice and cool way to travel.

At bts taksin i noticed the thai forensic police doing there bit at what looked like a robbery on an unstaffed display there.

here they are dusting for prints....

I got of at thewet (pier 15) and walked the 500 metres to my wifes friends place who had organised the passports and visas for us. Talked with her for 15 mins before taxing to central chidlom and off to the body shop for my darling wife. A quick call to her made me realise I had no idea what she wanted so simply handed the phone over to a staff member. Easy peesy - sorted in less then 5 mins.

BTS to saladaeng then walked to where I had dropped off my thumbdrive this morning at a fuji shop and picked up the 300 odd photos i had developed. 9 cents comapred to 55 cents back home is great!
