    Gardening Information; request for

When I lived in the Philippines I remember seeing and eating a squash that was white and long something like a baseball bat. Two to three feet long. They were common in the Cebu area at the open market. Can anyone provide me with the name of this squash and possible a photo? I have had no luck with google searching for a squash like this. Thanks, John.

Pardon the translation, but the Thai's call it fuck fang

There is a walk way of these "Bobby Danglers" at the Silver Lake tourist stop (near Buddha Mountain, just south of Pattaya) which were looking quite ripe last week.

That's the one. I was thinking that it was more white, my mistake. But if I remember correctly some are white. Does anyone know the name of this squash? I want to find seeds to plant in my garden. Looks nice on a trellis. Stir fried with pork or simmered in broth with pork this squash makes a great meal with or without rice.

I've been trying to think what sort of veg you call a squash. That thing up there looks like a long cucumber. Anyway all my answers have been corrected. Wiki says depending on the country of the speaker, its also known as a marrow.

I think two (FOOD) possibilities exist
One is what called "UPO" in Tagalog sorry I don't know a translation - Tends to be long and Green.
2nd one is "white radish" very big and very white.

PS just been told by the better half that a UPO is a fuzzy gourd actually I thought she said a puzzy gourd don't taste the same though.

UPO - yes that is the name of the vegetable I was talking about. The other one that you described is a Daikon Radish. Both are delicious. Thank you.
