Sim card in Bali ?

I have friend who is going to Bali and needs to call his daughter back in Australia
while he's there, What brand sim card should he get ? Where can he purchase it ?

I would have thought it was cheaper to use the/a hotel telephone than a mobile. ????

Phone rates in Indonesia are pretty steep, I would personally recommend that he uses Skype rather than a local SIM card. (roughly $1 per minute +)

However, if he wants, several brands will do. XL, Indosat, Mentari, Telkomsel etc

Plenty of shops on the roadside or in malls will sell credit, (called pulsa) and sim's and even phones too.



look for a sandwich board out the front of the shop, that how they nearly always advertise...

local calls dirt cheap in Bali, long distance quite expensive. I could not find the discount calling cards we can pick up here so easily.

Most Internet cafes have internet-based overseas calls that are cheap, the downside being a load of sweaty backpackers will be listening to your every word.
