Robertson, you gonna actually go this year?....if so let me know
The All Blacks and Wallabies will play for the Bledisloe Cup in Tokyo on October 31, pending rubber stamping this week, Australian Rugby Union chief executive John O'Neill confirmed.
O'Neill said the deal to play a fourth Bledisloe Cup test in Japan was "done and dusted" and the Australian and New Zealand unions were both content with the financial arrangements.
He said it would be a "similar outcome" financially to last year's test in Hong Kong, from which the New Zealand Rugby Union reportedly banked about $4 million.
"We're very happy with the negotiations, and the Japanese Rugby Union is about to issue the invitation," O'Neill said.
"It'll be a great occasion and I think the JRU see this as another message that they're a serious player in world rugby."
O'Neill said the test would be played at Tokyo's Olympic Stadium, which has an official capacity of 57,000.
The test will begin the All Blacks' five-week end-of-year tour. Matches already confirmed are against Italy in Milan on November 14, England at Twickenham on November 21, France in Marseille on November 28 and the Barbarians at Twickenham on December 5.
Negotiations are continuing with the Welsh Rugby Union for a test in Cardiff on November 7.
O'Neill also confirmed the Wallabies were on the verge of confirming their own Grand Slam tour this year, for the first time since their successful 1984 trip.
Wallabies coach Robbie Deans relished the extra challenge in a packed international programme of up to 15 tests this year.
"It's a great calendar, it's absolutely chocker in terms of opponents and there's few that we won't get to play -- essentially Argentina and the islands," Deans said.
"It's going to be fantastic, as a rugby player you couldn't ask for any more.
"The atmosphere (in Japan) I haven't experienced, but it'll be great out there on the ground and, as I said last year about Hong Kong, we don't really care where. It's a prospect we'll really look forward to."
The All Blacks won last year's Hong Kong test 19-14 to win the series 3-1, having already sealed the Bledisloe Cup in Brisbane.
While Deans felt the Wallabies were not playing too much rugby, O'Neill admitted the Australian and New Zealand unions were cramming their schedules largely due to financial reasons.
The Japan test, and Twickenham matches against England and the Barbarians, were hugely lucrative.
"In these tough economic times, as we did last year, we're playing extra games and the All Blacks are playing extra games.
"It's a bit of a dilemma. Both us and New Zealand are having to play extra games and being rewarded for them to make ends meet.
"Is that enduring? I don't think so. I don't think playing 15 test matches a year is right. It's too many.
"When you look at our circumstances and the strains that the business is under this year because of the recession, you have no choice. I wouldn't like to think we continue to play that many tests going forward."
O'Neill said the inbound winter tests in Australia and New Zealand would ideally be reduced from three to two, and the end-of-year tours would be reduced to "more income-producing games".
That would also depend on the revamped Super rugby competition which is still under negotiation.
The current International Rugby Board (IRB) international match schedule expires at the end of 2011, with a new schedule for 2012-2023 soon to be agreed on.

Thanks Marmers, too scared to watch real Rugby I take it?
Apart from being a stowaway are there any budget airlines that go to Japan?
I fell asleep during Saturday's game, so maybe scared isn't the right word.Originally Posted by MeMock

I knew I shouldn't have posted in this room. Dead as a door nail.
What you expect, the rugby threads have the same suspects and Loy Toy's never been to a game so he's not going to start now..555555, and Ant Robertson is thankfully banned.
I'd reply, but I aint got much more info that MtD's helpful response.
but sounds like a good idea.
enjoy mate.
I'll have you know that I have even flown tens of 1,000's of kilometres and to watch Rugby..........even those fooking useless British Lions and to witness the inevitable series thrashing!Originally Posted by Bobcock

Don't worry I was well aware that you were at the frist Test at Suncorp....when you were thrashed.
You only got good in that series when the top players got injured.....
Not that nathan Grey had anything to do with one of them, dirty [at][at][at][at].
As I have mentioned before I was watching Rugby when you were still only a glint in your old man's eye mate!
I have watched Rugby from Oz to Thailand, Wales to Durbin and I can remember going to watch Eastern Suburbs play when they were winning everything as my Uncle was the Hooker and Captain even when I was a toddler.
You going to watch 2 decent sides play in Japan Bob?
I would love too but work commitments will not allow!
hahahaha...how old do you actually think I am?
What game did you see in wales, we may have been in close proximity before....
I was once selected to play against eastern Suburbs, but the match was cancelled, I still have the Eastern Suburbs beer mat in my house.
I may go depending on tickets, I missed out on Hong Kong last year, but they was a crap game anyway.
So, if you've watched so much, why are you so reluctant to discuss the two points that you and I disagree about, i'd have thought you would relish some rugby conversation....
I thought I had answered all your questions and the final result of the last Lions Tour has clearly prooved once again that my thoughts are correct!Originally Posted by Bobcock
I look forward to having a one on one with you over a beer and seeing how you yappy wing footed wingers are in real life discussion.
Arrrrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhhh.........
This is where you have no clue what i am talking to you about.
I have disagreed with two points that you raised and tried to get you to discuss them.
You won't.
All you presist with is trying to discuss things that I have not raised, objected to, nor do I even care about.
How did the Lions Tour prove your point about your comments about Sir Clive Woodward?
How did the lions tour prove that Wales copied the supposed Clive woodward invention?
Do you actually read the comments made?
Theae are the only two points that I have tried to discuss, the rest is in your head.
I don't give a flying fuck about the NH v SH debate, I have not at any time said either of them is better, I love rugby, I don't care about the rest of it.
See just because I won't agree with your thoughts you are losing it mate.Originally Posted by Bobcock
You have a habit of mentally compiling certain statements and grouping and tacking them onto topics that you create yourself.
All of my statements are correct in my view and I will not agree with you just to satisfy your ego.
Again that discussion over a beer will sort out the men from the boys.
I look forward to it!
You're not as dumb as you look are you?
Your tactic is faultless, there's a name for it, but I don't argue enough on forums to remember it.
Here's something to make you feel better...

Actually, the last four times I have gone it has been using either UA or NW miles- only 20K miles RT, and easy to get seats. See what Thai has to offer first otherwise, they all need to put bums in seats at the moment.
I don't which stadium for the event. Japan Railways has business hotels at most of the major stations, even in cool places like Mejiro. They aren't too bad nor too expensive, as I recall.

Nice try though and I will give you that one!
$378 on United return - connections in Bangkok from Ubon suck though and would mean I would have to overnight both ways.
I am guessing that Tokyo Olympic Stadium would be closest to narita airport?
