Leaving for Mia Sai tommorrow on a 90 day visa run. We will be staying 1 night in Chiang Rai and 2 nights in Chaing Mai, any suggestions on things to do or dealing with the Buemese immigration people. Thanks in advance.

I will send as much info as i can on my return
You shouldn't have a problem. The Burmese speak better english than the Thais.
Things to do, Chiang Rai has the ambiance of a graveyard. Find something to eat and go to bed.
Plenty of things to do in Chiang Mai.
Bring either a newly styled ten dollar U.S. bill with you (they wouldn't take the "old" $10 currency last time I was there) or 500 baht for the burmese immigration (no torn bills).
Hiway 118 out of Chaing Mia, the road is good almost to the hot springs, probably five miles of construction, some driving on gravel, after this construction area good road again, about two and a half hours to Chaing Rai another hour to Mai Sai. If your planning on crossing the border drive up to the check point do a u-turn and look for a couple of guys with car park signs, they will take you to a car park a short walk from the border, fifty baht for all day. I was there on a Sunday afternoon, and there was no waiting either way for passport holders, maybe ten minutes for my Thai wife to get her papers.
Good stuff. Any shopping tips?
Don't buy any cigs there as they are fake.In fact most of the goods there are shit.Used to be able to buy porn,so I've heard.
A good restaurant that does really good cow soi is to the right of the return border building down past the stalls that sell stones and up a flight of stairs. You can sit up there and look down on the comings and goings across no mans land.
By the way who owns that bridge? Thai or Burma? Anyone know?
