Vancouverbound and J de Fuca ferry options

Canada beckons once snow cleared June?

I know Montreal well and find my way around GTA
    Hamilton ok

    First visit to
Vancouver for a few days stop over before ferry Victoria to Port Angles and Sequim, Mt St helens permitting

Is it necessary to rent a car to get around like LA? No objection to take local metro/bus or cab but in some places like Bangkok Dubai the cab is a no brainer.
I avoid nightime public tramsport in US as its an asylum but Canada feels safer I guess they export the deranged here or south of the 49
Can I take a Canadian rental on the cross straits ferries or simpler rent each end?

Will try avoid WISDOT in summer recess

Anyone used Sidney to Friday Harbour service?

    Thank you in advance

Yes book now as far ahead as possible and use the same agents as airlines. I have found priceline to be good. You should be able to get a nice car like a Toyota Altis for less than 25 dollars a day. But arrange your own Damage collision as you wont be covered. I am not and use a company out of the UK. You absolutely have to have a car in LA. Make sure you have google maps or a GPS as well... Enjoy.

Wow, you are so lucky going to Vancouver! I've been wanting to go to BC and AB, but haven't made it yet.
The only advice I can give you from many friends that have lived there is that it is expensive!
It is by far the most expensive place to live in Canada. You can take a taxi around the city. Check here for the fares. https://www.numbeo.com/taxi-fare/in/Vancouver

I don't know much about the ferry, but this may help you.
BC Ferries Schedules: Vancouver - Victoria<br />(Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay)

Take pics and I hope you enjoy it! Vancouver is a very beautiful city, and you'll see lots of Asians. It is also referred to as Hongouver or Little Asia.
