We’ll be in the Gulf for part of the month of August. You might also want to consider making your travel destination to the same area.
August is a flip of the coin for good weather in the Gulf.
Can piss down and storm away or you may be lucky and get a nice window of weather.
Ya never know.
considered a Semi high season because of the Euro holidays though.
Your best bet for dry weather in rainy season is Koh Samet.
It's far more likely to be dry than Samui.
Note: I'm only talking about the weather.
Indonesia looks the safest bet that time of year but I've just had a fortnight there and fancy something different.
Nha Trang in Vietnam keeps coming up in searches as having good weather then but I don't see why it should be so different from the rest of Vietnam... any one been there.?
Yes...once in the nineties and again about six years ago.
I like it.
It's sheltered by mountains so the rains come at a different time.
The beach itself is lengthy, though the sand is a bit rougher than Thailand's. It's a good spot for food...lots of European restaurants that don't break the bank. Many with decent wines at more affordable prices than Thailand.
Not somewhere to go if you really want to get away from it all...the town is quite busy. It isn't fucked up like Kuta, though.
I think BLD went to Nha Trang last xmas season, check out his thread on that.
Not interested in balut & adobo, Neo? Lol. I'd recommend PI, but end of August it's hit or miss re: rains & typhoons. The past 2 years, I went to Boracay & Puerto Galera and I was lucky weather-wise, just some rainshowers in the afternoon. For Boracay or Palawan, you'll need to fly from Manila. To PG, no flight needed, just boat. I made threads for Boracay & PG, Natalie has a thread on Palawan in the PI section. Cheers!
I^d go the Canaries not Asia at that time of year.
I guess its a sex mongering holiday
