...located off Charoen Nakorn (Thanon Chiang Mai) on the west bank of the Chao Praya, this restored Chinese compound offers insight into a large obviously commercial Chinese compound from the time the Chinese began to settle here in larger numbers. The brick buildings present a spacious, though unremarkable, series of storerooms (now trendy shops) around a large rectangle of mostly concrete. There is a very nice Chinese shrine located on the mezzanine and some interesting tile work adorns window frames. Nothing spectacular, but a pleasant outing as it's on the river and boasts the excellent Rong-Si restaurant.
