Or phoo/phoot Thai, a style of Morlam made famous by the minority Phu Thai people who migrated into Thailand from Vietnam. They are mainly in Mukdaham and Kalasin and Nakon Pathnom I think, and have their own distinct language, Thais cannot understand a word of it. As for looks I cannot tell them apart from other Thais except that they are usually light skinned and don't have that neanderthal jutting jaw look that a lot of lao have. Silapin Phu Thai is one of the best known Morlam groups in the country and while it's not all Morlam they put on a great show with about 70 performers, over 20 costumes changes and masterfully a short 'comic' spot. They were on last night at Prapradeang in Bkk, 140 baht well spent for 5 hours of non stop music and dance. Name of the troupe Silapin Phu Thai from Kalasin.
This girl was a real star, nice teeth as well! Not a great luktung singer but she makes up for it in personality. Could easily fall for her.
Like a lot of Morlam shows, even lam cing, a large percentage of material is luktung favorites and they even did a famous lukrung number
I would say these at the top of their profession, few around now as good and large as this troupe, worth seeing and almost any Issan mrs would like a night out with these, no fights either! Could have done with a bit more actual Phu Thai morlam, but not boring anyway.
Yim Siam and all that, lovely!
