Just as an update Mrs bld is doing very well. The trip.back to Laos was definitely beneficial to re unite with her family, especially her mum she was still on olanzapine 15mg which makes her gain weight and makes her have zero energy but she soldiered on . Back in Australia they reduced it to 10 mg for 2 weeks and yesterday it's been reduced to 5 mg for a week followed by 5mg Monday,Wednesday, Friday,Sunday. Then the doc decides if stop completely or change meds. She seems fine mood wise but we worry about relapse. I sure hope not. But either way life's returning to normal at the moment. Slowly though. It is what it is. I've got it it sorted I think ?

It's been a long hard road and maybe not done yet but I think she's on on the up n up, friends have commented that she doesn't have the bubbly personality like before but I think she's just week as a kitten with the meds, the poor thing. But ok things are getting better.and I'm still 100% behind her. Shitty times but getting better

    Brilliant news BLD!

Hopefully this will all be distant memory this time next year and you'll be able to write it off as a Covid debacle.

That is so very good to hear, BLD - you've really soldiered through, good on you . . . and the Mrs for sticking it out as well. I hope the kiddies are doing well.

She saw her doc on Friday and the doc said she can stop the anti psychotic drug olanzapine after decreasing it slowly. Great news . She's pretty happy about that and I can already see the results. She goes walking in a nearby park daily and she doesn't seem as dozy now the meds have decreased and now stopped. Doc reckons only a small chance of a re lapse. I can't relax yet, I will see how she goes. Hopefully life will return to normal.

Yesterday I was out the back having a wobbly pop or 2 when Mrs bld requested one. Sure ..she likes a beer but is not a big drinker.and this her first beer since September last year. It was a 500ml.5% asahi and she was lit up like a Xmas after ,and got all giggly. I'm seeing big changes in her demeanour since the medication has stopped, but I'm still nervous

I mentioned elsewhere that there was a monkey in the garden last week. A young girl nearby had seen it the day before I did and on reporting the fact was put down by her whole family on the basis that there are no monkeys and never have been any monkeys in this area. She was told that she had seen a cat, despite her protestations that she was old enough to distinguish a monkey from a cat. Neighbours on two sides who have lived here since God was a boy are all clear on this point, there are no monkeys. It's lucky that the gf saw it too or I'd be assigned to the mad farang pool.

Now to me it was a monkey, nothing more and nothing less. This, apparently, is because I fail to understand Thai culture. The gf was going about tying strings to the fence and the gate, strings I got a handful of from a monk at the last wedding we attended. Then she was outside the front door reciting some kind of prayer. All this because of course it was not just a monkey. It was a portent, a ghost in the form of a monkey, a harbinger of some unusual event that is coming our way. It isn't clear if this will be a lottery win or her crashing the new car (again) or when it might happen. We can but wait and see. Whatever happens, good or bad, it will be down to the spirit who visited in the form of a monkey.

God's will. If we didn't have spirits and God's we would have to invent them.

You are a good man for being there for her, and happy to hear it is working out.
I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for you.
Best wishes for a happy future

It is an amusing tale, but as usual, Norton is proved correct by history.
